Fall Finds...

I was searching through my files on the computer for a few ideas for a class & ran across these samples that I completely forgot to blog.  I guess I need to organize my computer images so I don't keep forgetting to blog things.  Although, it is a nice problem to have extra cards to blog that you weren't expecting!

My first card uses a cute Halloween set from Our Craft Lounge from the release last year called Witch to Wear.  It's oh so cute and spooky!

My next card uses the turkey and fall images from the Holiday Cruiser set.

Guess I'd better go look a little deeper and make sure I don't have any more hidden cards in my computer that are begging to be blogged!

Hero Arts Class Project

It hasn't started snowing in Northern Indiana (thank goodness), but I do have yet another Christmas project to share with you.  I made this cute card at a Hero Arts class that was taught my Jennifer McGuire (one of my favorite crafting artists).  So this is HER design, not mine ~ I just made it.

The card is a standard 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" base that is scored at 4 1/4" and then at 2".  I used some adorable new Christmas sets by Hero Arts for this card that are available at i{heart}papers ~ Merry Christmas Trees & Tree-Mendous (sentiment).  After stamping the trees with black Palette ink on white paper, I sponged green ink on them and cut them out.  Then to add some shimmer, I sprayed some Psssst! Shimmer Spray in Frost.  Then I added the red gems to the trees.   The felt & gem snowflakes and the background stamp are all from Hero Arts.

LAD Sketch Day!

Today it's my turn to present the weekly Lizzie Anne Sketch.  It's always fun presenting this challenge for the Lizzie Anne girls.  So here is the super simple sketch...

And here is what I did with the sketch.  I used the October Monthly Mix called Sweet & Spooky along with the very cool Autumn Mix Digital Paper Pack.  I'm sure you are wondering why in the world Lizzie Anne would put PINK paper in the Autumn Digital Paper Pack ~ well they didn't.  I pulled up the pattern in Photo Shop Elements and played with the colors until I got a good pink.  Then I scaled down the pattern so it would be smaller for the card.  I love being able to do that on digital papers.

Don't forget to play along this week & leave your link or card on the Lizzie Anne Facebook page for us to see!

Back to School Display

Hey Peeps ~ Well school is back in session and we are all running around like crazy people to get book bags packed, lunches made and homework checked. I've also been making samples galore for stores. The following samples were for the September store display boards for Our Craft Lounge.

We featured three fun OCL sets ~ Bookworm, School Notes and Football All-Star. They are all perfect for this time of year!

This cool set was designed by my friend Kisa Peters ~ I just love that background stamp she added to the set.

These two school sets designed by Debbie Corbari are perfect together!

OK ~ off to make cookies for the volleyball team! Go Concord!

Halloween Peep Pops!

It's Challenge Day for the i{heart}papers Design Team! I always love challenge day & today is especially FUN because this one is filled with yummy Halloween Treats & Table Decorations.

My project for today is a jar of Halloween Peep Pops. I took some of the Halloween Ghost Peeps (which I found at the grocery store), put them on a stick & then poked a hole in the bottom of the bag so I could slip the stick through it. I gathered up the end of the bag with some fun May Arts Ric Rac and then trimmed the edge of the bag with my pinking edged scissors. To decorate the jar, I used this fabulous black crocheted ribbon from May Arts (which also comes in brown, white, and ivory) & then more orange ric rac.

For the cute little tag, I used a new stamp set by Our Craft Lounge called Spooky Tags & stamped the image in Palette Noir Ink and the sentiment in Palette Orangeire. I used the set called On the Fence to add some bats to the orange mat that was cut using the Nestabilites Label 17.

The i {heart} papers design team girls are going to have lots of yummy things to show you today ~ so hop around and see treats (or tricks) you find.

OCL Sketch Challenge #31

How wonderful that this fun Sketch challenge shows up each Friday to get our creative juices flowing. Sketches are probably my favorite types of challenge because I can usually picture what stamp set I want to use and then everything flows from there. Today I decided on Pretty Petals & Say it with Flowers sets from Our Craft Lounge. I also used the brand new Sparkly Fluff color That's Hot PINK, which will be out very soon!

FUN NEWS ~ You're invited to a FREE Make & Take!
I made this card as a store sample for a brand new local scrapbook store in our area. It's called More Memories and I met Vanesa (the owner) at CHA this summer. I was so excited to find out she would be opening a store about 20 minutes from my house AND that she was going to carry OCL stamps & Sparkly Fluff. Tomorrow is her Grand Opening celebration (9am to 2pm) and I will be doing a FREE Christmas Tag make and take project from 11am to 1pm. So if any of my Goshen, Indiana area peeps can make it over, I'd love to see you! The store is located at 19260 County Road 46 (corner of CR 46 & SR 15), New Paris, IN 46553 (574) 831-4500. Happy Birthday Gift Card Holder

I have a quick little gift card holder to show you today using the new Lizzie Anne single ~ Cupcake Birthday. I paired it up with this fun Birthday Bash paper from Imaginisce ~ perfect match!

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Let's HOP today!

That's right ~ it's the 15th of the month & that means it's time for the Lizzie Anne Monthly Mix Blog Hop! AND...since it's the 15th, that also means that I can show you images from the newest Monthly Mix for October which is called Sweet & Spooky! This one might be my favorite one yet! But there's more... Lizzie Anne is also releasing a new coordinating Digital Paper Pack - Autumn Mix today as well!

My project for today is a set of four note cards (finished size 4"x4") along with a little box to put them in. For the box, I simply took a standard card box & trimmed it to 2 1/4" with my paper cutter. (Note: the part I trimmed off can be used as well for another open box).

I printed off the Autumn Digital Papers and used the coordinating stamp from the Monthly Mix for each pattern.

I used my new Nestabilities Label (#17) and stamped the label frame from the new Mix. Doesn't it line up perfectly ~ I love it when that happens! So each card coordinates, I used same layout & colors and the great polka-dot border stamp from the Mix on top of the card.

I'm thrilled with how this fun little project turned out & it was super simple too! Now go hop along and see what other wonderful projects the girls have made. You can find a list on the Lizzie Anne Blog.

Booglie EYES!

I've got a funny story for you today. Last week my dad and his wife came down for a visit and we went out to breakfast at Das Essenhaus in Middlebury (Indiana). They have a great bakery next to the restaurant, so after we ate, we decided to have a look around. WELL LOOK WHAT I FOUND... EYEBALL COOKIES! OMW! I had to get them!

So here is the funny part ~ there were two in the package and my son ate his right away. Megan decided to wait to have her cookie because it was pretty close to bedtime. So the next day, I decided to make this project because I could still take a picture of the cookie. When Megan got home from volleyball practice the next day, she asked what I made to go with the cookie ~ mind you, I never said a word about wanting to make something! That's just how well my daughter knows me! I will be making more of these cookies FOR SURE!

The card I made to go with the cookie uses the new Little Boogas set from Our Craft Lounge. I also used another new product ~ Pumpkin Delight Sparkly Fluff! Yes, we have some new colors ~ six actually! All of them will be available very soon!

Supplies from i{heart}papers: Stamps ~ Little Boogas (Our Craft Lounge); Sparkly Fluff ~ Pumpkin Delight (Coming Soon); Copic Markers (R81, E00, E33, E25, Y17, YR18, YG13); Ink ~ Palette; Nestabilities (Labels 17).

Happy Birthday from LAD!

Lizzie Anne has another new single out this month called Happy Birthday Cupcake! It's a fun little sentiment that can be used as the main image on a card or a quick sentiment to finish off a card. I thought it paired up well with this fun Birthday Bash paper by Imaginisce. I also add this fun Pleated Ribbon from Maya Road ~ too cool!

More Vintage... REALLY?

WAIT...don't go ~ yes, you are on Kendra's blog. I know, I know...what has gotten into me lately with all the vintage? Well... when you have great stamps, you get inspired. This month it just happens to be with some beautiful vintage images.

But seriously, all kidding aside ~ I am really enjoying the new Treasured Trinkets Monthly Mix for September. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous when I saw it. However, once I started playing, I was hooked and will use again and again.

CAS Vintage

I think Clean & Simple (CAS) paired up with the word Vintage is a contradiction in terms ~ what do you think? However, that's kind of how I do things. I'm totally NOT a vintage girl (which you already know) but it seems when I try to do that style, it turns out to be clean and simple with a vintage feel ~ so that's my new term CAS Vintage ~ LOL!

My card for today is based on the newest OCL weekly sketch challenge that begins today. I used the new Vintage Traveler set along with two older sets called Life is... & The Journey. These two scrapbooking sets work so perfectly with the OCL vintage sets. You probably can't see it from the photograph, but this card is super sparkly since I sprayed some Gold Shimmer Spray on it ~ kind of cool & way outside my comfort zone!

All righty then ~ it's your turn to go look at the OCL Sketch and come up with your own card. I can't wait to see it!

Oh & guess what? OCL has three new guest designers who started this week ~ Latrice Murphy, Lori McAree, and Mercy Kiren. A big OCL welcome to you girls!

Supplies from i{heart}papers: Stamps ~ Our Craft Lounge (Vintage Traveler, Life is, The Journey); Vintage Lace ~ Kaiser; Ink ~ Palette; Pattern Paper ~ October Afternoon (Thrift Shop); Spray Shimmer ~ Tsukineko (Gold).

Love & Laughter...

Wasn't it just Monday? Dang, these weeks just fly by! Well anyway ~ I was in the mood to play with something else last night, so I went digging around in my Unity Stamps drawer to see what struck my fancy. I found this adorable flower image from the March 2010 Store Kit called Adventures in Happiness. I get so many new things all the time, it's fun to pull out the older (and very neglected) images.

Now I'll be honest, if I could do this card over again, I would make the bottom border of pattern paper smaller & I would have stamped more flowers. Unfortunately, the pattern paper covering a mistake so I had to leave it up that high ~ LOL! If only you knew the million little things I cover up on my cards. I don't start over very often unless it is just horrible. I usually try pretty hard to make something happen with an image I've got colored. There ya go ~ now you know one of my little secrets!

Supplies from i{heart}papers: Stamps ~ Unity (Adventures in Happiness); Copic Markers ~ R81, R83, R85, YG13, YG25, YG11; Pattern Paper ~ My Minds Eye (Whirlybird Blossom); Ink ~ Palette (Burnt Umber); Embossing Folder ~ Quickuts (Polka Dots); Stickles ~ Cotton Candy.

Now I know my ABCs...

WOW ~ September 1st already! I'm not at all sure where the summer went, but here we are sending the kids back to school and getting ready for the busy fall season. So here's a card to go right along with that theme.

My card today uses a fun new single from Lizzie Anne Designs simply called Alphabet. I love this because you can use so many different ways. I used it as a background on my main image (which I love how it came through on the colored apple) and I used it on my scallop border and mat. Pretty cool huh?

Lizzie Anne also has another single out today called Birthday Cupcake ~ i'll have a sample to show you with that in a few days.
