Aloha...

Just thought I would share something I made {very quickly} this morning. Megan's best friend spent the night last night and she loves stamping. So we planned her birthday invitations, but didn't have time to make them before she left. She wanted them to be bright ~ I think she got her wish!! On the "Aloha" and the flower, I used the Poppin' Pastels technique {stamped with VersaMark and then rubbed chalk colors over it}.

Supplies Used: Stamps ~ Do the Hula, Hugs & Wishes (SU); Cardstock ~ Pixie Pink, Gable Green, White; Ink: Pixie Pin, Gable Green, Versa Mark; Other ~ SU Chalk, Doodlebug Trims, SU Ribbon & Eyelets (both retired) & Cuttlebug Happy Birthday Embossing Die.

And the winner is....

Shhhhh...Don't Tell Bethie!

My friend Beth had her 6th child last week. All her online "Aunties" have been anxiously waiting for the birth of this sweet little baby. Genevieve Elizabeth arrived on July 19th to tears of joy from her siblings and parents. Welcome to the world sweet baby. This special occasion definately called for a special project! So I decided to make a keepsake tin with a little scrapbook for baby Evie. These wonderful supplies all came from my favorite online store, Eclectic Paperie. The Rectangle Tin is from Provo Craft, the pattern paper is the Pristine Collection by Paper Salon, the die cuts are from CuttleBug and the lettering was made using my Cricut & the Jasmine Cartridge. I used lots of fun supplies on this project!

Here are a few pictures from the scrapbook.

Congrats to the entire family! Now I need to get this packed up and in the mail.

A very sweet friend of mine, Joy & her friend Daisy, own an online store called Eclectic Paperie. What a fun place to shop! I found these fabulous Paper Salon stamps called Summer Fun Tailored Tins & matching paper (also from Paper Salon) called Sizzle! They are lots of fun! Oh, and on the card to the far right ~ I used the new BoBunny 20" Flex Ruler to make the wave. EASY PEASY! So go stop by Eclectic Paperie ~ you won't be disappointed!
I have lots more goodies in the works from Joy & Daisy, so stay tuned...

Here's a matching card...

As I made my scrapbook page, I began this card as well. All the supplies are the same as the page except for the touch of Wild Wasabi Stitched Ribbon. The finished size of the card is 8" x 4 3/4". It's an odd size but I didn't want the elements to be squished.

I LOVE THIS PAGE...

I love this picture, this new textured cardstock, these stamp sets, the colors ~ EVERYTHING! I found this layout on the Hero Arts website {by Sherri Carroll ~ one of my favorite stampers} & I knew exactly which picture I wanted to scrapbook. The border is the new Stem Sayings stamp set from Stampin' Up! & the flowers are all made with various Stampin' Up! punches. In case you can't read the border, it says "I made a wish and you came true!". These new products are absolutely wonderful. I can finally scrapbook the way I like and use SU stuff ~ YIPEE!

Supplies Used: Stamps ~ Priceless, Stem Sayings, Big Deal Alphabet; Textured Cardstock ~ White, Pixie Pink, Wild Wasabi; Ink~Pixie Pink, Wild Wasabi; Punches: 5-Petal Flower, Scallop Circle, 1" circle, 3/4" circle.

Another Tasty Treat...

Have I mentioned that I LOVE the new textured cardstock from SU? Well if I haven't ~ it's FABULOUS!!!! I am in scrapbooking heaven with all this wonderful paper. I took this picture of Jazmine on the 4th of July. She was standing there posed so pretty ~ and she stayed there AND I had my camera ~ that's amazing. I saw this great layout in my August issue of Creating Keepsakes and I just knew that I had to use it with the new Round Up scrapbook kit and Outlaw paper from Stampin' Up! It's a perfect fit!

Supplies Used ~ Stamps: Wanted & Priceless; Paper/Cardstock: Round Up Scrapbook Kit, Outlaw DS paper; Ink: Close to Cocoa; Punches: Small Oval & Photo Corner; Other: Hodgepodge Hardware.

Good Night ~ Sleep Tight!

Here We Go...

I told ya I would move on to new colors! This will probably do it for today. Tim is due back in town within the next hour, so it's time to put the stamping stuff away {but just for today}. Can you say .... YUMMY?

I had a box of new goodies show up on Monday & finally had a chance to play today. YIPEEE!I just can't get enough of this new color combination! Stampin' Up! did a great job coming up with fun In Colors this year. My combo above ~ Wild Wasabi, Groovy Guava, Certainly Celery & Really Rust. I also used the new Happiness & Polka Dot background stamps, Thinking Happy Thoughts Stamp set, the new scallop circle punch AND the Wild Wasabi Stitched Ribbon (one of my very favorite new products). If you haven't had a chance to see the new Stampin' Up! Fall & Winter Collection ~ you've got to take a look!

Tip of the Day: When you only want to use a portion of a large background stamp:
  • cover the area you DON'T want to use with scotch tape,
  • ink the area you will be using,
  • take the tape off, and
  • stamp on your paper ~voila!

It's clean, simple & fast!

Another New Catalog CASE...

When I saw the project in the catalog (p. 76) using this color combo and set, I knew I would be CASEing it. I just love the new colors Wild Wasabi & Groovy Guava together and then to put them with Really Rust & Certainly Celery ~ YUM! There will definately be more to come with this color combination!

If you haven't gotten a copy of the new Fall/Winter Collection ~ it's a must have! You can view the catalog online at www.stampinup.com, but it's way more fun to curl up with it and make your wish list.

Yes ~ I Really Do Stamp!

Today was the first opportunity that I've had to stamp since before we left on vacation. I ordered the Pick A Petal set during the pre-order period but never had time to play with it. This card is CASE'd from the new catalog, but I had to change a few things since I don't have many of the products. When the catalogs come out, that's usually the first thing I do is CASE a few of the cards. It's also a great way to get back into the groove of stamping when you haven't done anything in a while.

The colors are all new '08 In Colors ~ Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate & Soft Sky. I also used some chipboard from the On Board Blossoms & Basics and a new greeting from Holidays and Wishes.

Ketchikan, Alaska

June 13, 2007
Flightseeing ~ Misty Fjords
Ketchikan, Alaska

Well this entire day made our Top 5 Greatest Moments of the trip! We booked this float plane trip on our own rather than with the cruise line. We were so happy with our choice ~ Island Wings Air Service was outstanding {and she takes great pictures too ~ see above picture}. This picture was taken on Matt's Island on Punchbowl Lake inside the Misty Fjords National Monument. Our pilot, Michell, landed on this lake and we were able to get off the plane and walk around. We snapped several pictures and she took this one for us. When Matt asked Michelle what the name of this little island she said it was Matt's Island. His eyes lit up ~ he loved that!

Words {and even these pictures} can't even describe this trip. We had a very clear day and the views were amazing. We also enjoyed walking around downtown Ketchikan and managed to do a little shopping while we were there. This was our last port of call on our trip & we looked forward to our last day at sea before we headed home.

I'm so glad we saved the best tour for last!

Well this is it for my Alaska entries ~ I hope you enjoyed the little tour. I know you'll be seeing pictures pop up in various projects.

Icy Strait Point ~ Hoonah, Alaska

June 12, 2007

ZIP LINE BABY! Yes, that was what we did today! Tim and I rode a zip line cable 1 and 1/2 miles down the Alaskan Rain Forest at 60 mph. It was exciting and exhilarating ~ and not scary at all! WE LOVED IT! Megan was supposed to do it too, but she had to remain in the cabin one more day because of her illness. In fact, Tim & I almost weren't allowed off the ship, but they finally gave us permission since we were not ill. I'm so glad they did, because this was an experience I would not have wanted to miss.

Skagway & Haines

Bald Eagle Preserve Jet Boat Tour
June 11, 2007

My favorite part of this day was seeing so many Bald Eagles in their natural environment. Living in Northern Indiana the biggest bird we see is a Robin ~ well not really! But I have to say, that since we've been home, the birds do seem rather small in Indiana.

On our stop in Skagway, we planned a Jet Boat tour in Haines. Unfortunately, Megan work up ill that morning so she and Tim stayed on the ship. That was a total bummer! So Matt and I, along with Tim's parents, went on the tour anyway. After leaving the ship, we boarded a high-speed ferry to Haines which took about 30 minutes. The views were great. After our ferry ride, we boarded a school bus and took a 30 minute ride to the Eagle Perserve where we had a hot dog roast over a campfire. Matt loved that! Then they geared us up with warm coats, gloves, hats and blankets. Boy oh boy were we glad we took all the extra warm clothes. That boat went pretty fast and it was COLD! It took a bit of time, but we ended up seeing lots of Bald Eagles, trumpet swan, Alaskan Turns, and finally at the very end a moose with her two babies. It was a very nice tour and we enjoyed it, but I wouldn't need to do it twice.

We were very thankful that by the time we got back to the ship, Megan was feeling better and Tim hadn't caught anything. However, we then found out that we were all quartined in the cabin for the next 12 hours because of Megan's illness. No problem because we were exhaused from a very long day. We ordered room service and watched movies all night.

Matt's Birthday ~ Juneau, Alaska

June 10th was Matt's birthday & we were in Juneau ~ what a way to spend your 8th birthday! This kid has had some fabulous birthday spots, but this one will be hard to beat! We went dog sledding and although the actual sled time was very short, we had a blast! The day was just gorgeous and the setting was in a thick, beautiful forest. It was one of my favorite days! How can you beat a smile like that? We loved riding on the summer sled, playing with the puppies and talking with a real musher about his experiences in the races! Very cool!

This was something we won't forget anytime soon!
