Happy Halloween!

Today is the day for all kinds of spooky & sweet fun. We love Halloween in our neighborhood because we always have a little potluck dinner and then the kids go trick-or-treating in one big group. We live in a pretty small neighborhood, so we just leave bags of treats for the kids on the porch and they come home with plenty to eat, share and trade.

My fun little creations today is a card and matching broom stick decoration. For the broom, I took a brown paper lunch sack, cut the bottom off and put it through our paper shredder. Then I went out into the yard & found a good stick. I trimmed the ends of the sliced up paper bag and then attached it to the stick with linen thread. I just wrapped it around and around until it felt secure and then added the little cat tag (using the Spook-tacular set by Our Craft Lounge) to the broom. It was really pretty easy!

For my card, I used the fantastic Halloween paper from My Minds Eye called Boo to You ~ super cute set of graphics on these papers. I can't wait to use them for some scrapbook pages. I also fluffed up the spider with Coffee Bean Brown Sparkly Fluff!

And here is the cute little tag that I put on the broom. The sweet little kitty is stamped in Palette Burnt Umber ink, all glittered up with my atyou Spica glitter pens and cut out with my oval Nestabilities.

Note: All the detials for supplies (with links) are mentioned above.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Wickedly Fun...

Last year my daughter was Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West) from the musical Wicked. You may have seen a similar page in the past, but I did a new paged for a sketch contest last week. It didn't win, but I thought I'd share my page ~ I love this picture!

Supplies Used: Stamps ~ Our Craft Lounge (Spook-tacular); Cardstock ~ Bazzill, PTI; Sticker Letters ~ Making Memories; Ink ~ VersaMark.

Spooked!

As I was going through some files on my computer, I realized that I never posted these cards I made last year. They were all published and I must have forgotten to show them.

On all three cards I used the super cute Lizzie Anne set called Spooked! It's one of my favorite sets & it's so easy to use!

On this first card, I used a Cuttlebug Embossing folder to make the background pop & I heat embossed the pumpkin to give it a bit of a shine.

This set has a wonderful candy cane border that lines up perfectly for a repeating pattern.

I don't usually do the skull and cross-bones thing, but I have to say ~ I think this card turned out cute. The background image was stamped with Versamark ink and then heat embossed with clear powder.

Have a SPOOKY day!

SCS Challenge Day ...

I had some time yesterday, so I worked on a few Splitcoast Challenge cards. The first one is for the Ways to Use It Challenge that comes out each Friday (WT241) ~ called a Patchwork challenge where you use up scraps of pattern paper by piecing them together. I used my cute Penguin stamp from the It's a Snowy Day set along with scraps of paper from the new My Minds Eye Christmas Collection called Colorful Christmas. Then to finish off the card, I added some Stickles to the snowflakes to make them shimmer.

My next challenge card was from the Splitcoast Sketch challenge (SC251). On this card I used Just Skating By set by Chicken Girl Designs & then added Stickles and glitter all over the place to make it shimmer. I also used the Snowflake Impressibilities by Spellbinders to make one of the layers pop with texture.

Hope you have a great weekend!

IHP Birthday Bash ~ Day 5 Challenge!

Happy Birthday i{heart}papers!
Today, along with Megan/Chris Veneruso and my friend Debbie Fisher, I am one of the hosts for the Day 5 Challenge. Sooooo.... what is the challenge for today? Well, another very important part of the party is the food you prepare! Therefore, the challenge for you today is to make a card, scrapbook page, 3-D item, etc. using stamps or papers that feature food and/or drinks! Remember, everything this week has to do with birthday celebrations...so be sure your creation is birthday related!

Today's Inspiration ~ Now my creations today happen to be actual food, but don't feel like you need to do that. I love putting parties together so I decided to make some yummy cupcake toppers and treat bags perfect for a little girl's birthday party.

Project Details ~ For the cupcake toppers, I simply cut out circles using my Nestabilities from this adorable strawberry pattern paper by Best Creation called Strawberry Kisses. I layered the circles on a scallop circle and attached them to some lollypop sticks. Then I finished them off with a little bit of bright green silk ribbon by May Arts and cut the ends with pinking sheers.

Treat bags ~ I took the fantastic new lable die from the Ribbon Tag Trio #2 by Nestabilities for the front of the bag. I also cut out an oval shape to layer on top and then hand cut some strawberries from the Strawberry Kiss pattern paper. I finished off the tag with some coordinating ribbon & used my long rectangle scallop Nestabilities to trim the top of the treat bag.

Sweet Little Flower

A few weeks ago I got the sweetest message on my blog from Lolly Chessie & she totally brightened my day. I took a look at her amazing blog & found the most gorgeous fabric butterflies & flowers. After I commented on them, she mailed some to me! That was such an amazing surprise Lolly ~ thank you so much.

This morning I was searching around my space looking for the perfect set to pair up with this fantastic fabric flower and decided to pair it up with the Spunky Nature & Hello Doodle sets from My Cute Stamps! I just love how these sets compliment the beautiful fabric flower Lolly made. Go take a look at all her wonderful creations on Lolly Chops!

IHP Birthday Bash Announcement!

Get ready! It's time for the i {heart} papers Birthday Bash! That’s right, IHP is a year old this month, and we are planning a HUGE party! There will also be a special gift to help others celebrate more birthdays. You’ll read more about that at the end of this post.

First, let’s talk about the party! There will be prizes galore (free stuff – you like free stuff, don’t you?), and a Grand Prize winner will be chosen at the end to be the IHP Guest Designer for the month of November!

There will be 6 birthday party themed challenges, one posted each day starting on Monday, October 19th. Each challenge will be hosted (and posted) by one of the IHP Design Team members. It will also be posted on the IHP Blog and on the store site HERE. Some special invited guests will be posting throughout the week, too! Each challenge will have its own prize.

The Details ~ To qualify for the prize of the day, all you have to do is post your challenge card/project to Splitcoast Stampers (SCS) and/or Paper Craft Planet (PCP) with the appropriate tag so we can find it. The tag (and the prize) for that day’s challenge will be posted on that day. You will have the full week (until October 25th) to post your work. You can enter as many challenges as you like, but you can’t combine challenges in one project. The daily challenge winners will be selected at random at the end of the week.

To qualify for the Grand Prize of being IHP Guest Designer for the month of November, here’s how it will work: Every challenge card/project you enter will give you points (see the list below), and the one with the most points accumulated for the week will be the Grand Prize winner. So the more challenges you enter, the more points you will earn — and the better your chances of winning the Grand Prize (and the bigger the value of your Guest Designer goodie box!)

All winners, including the Grand Prize winner, will be announced at the Birthday Bash on October 26th. So get ready to PARTY!!!! You won’t want to miss the fun!

A Special Gift
Because i {heart} papers loves birthdays so much, they’ve decided to contribute 10% of sales, beginning on October 19th and through the end of October, to Hope Lodge New York City. Hope Lodge, run by the American Cancer Society, “The Official Sponsor of Birthdays,” offers free, temporary housing for cancer patients and their families who are undergoing treatment. The nurturing, comfortable environment at Hope Lodge allows patients to focus on what is most important - fighting cancer. What better way to celebrate a birthday than to help those who are helping more birthdays happen!

So get your thinking caps on with some fabulous birthday ideas and check back on Monday when the fun really begins!

A bit different...

As you can see from my blog, I make A LOT of cards and projects. Some days the mojo is flowing along pretty smoothly and other days, it's totally gone. Then there are days that I just want to try something outside of my comfort zone. Well this project was made on one of those days outside my comfort zone. I really just wanted to try a different color palette and be a little OUT THERE & I like how it turned out. I used the new Fancy Flourishes set from Lizzie Anne Designs along with the Garden Inspirations set.

Supplies Used: Stamps ~ Lizzie Anne Designs (Fancy Flourishes, Garden Inspirations); Pattern Paper ~ Making Memories (Chloe's Closet); kiwi cardstock; Gems ~ Kaiser; Ink ~ Palette, Copics; Label die ~ Nestabilities.

Today is also the first day to preview the November Monthly Mix called Christmas Wishes. I'll have some samples up very soon for this mix.

Mixing it Up Again...

Today's projects feature more images form the October Monthly Mix by Lizzie Anne Designs called A Harvest of Memories.

The first card features a cool little circle background stamp and sentiment. I love how the background matches the embossing folder on this card. It was a fun, quick little card that I didn't give much thought, but it turned out pretty cute.

On my next project, I really don't like the photo or how the lighting turned out. However, in real life, I really like the card. I love light yellow with Kraft and brown.

Hope you have a great Wednesday!
