Best Wishes Butterfly & a SAMJ Tutorial

Good Monday Morning!!!  Well I think Spring is finally on it's way and a weekend filled with sunshine sure helps!  Another thing that helps...stamping some fun spring images like this gorgeous butterfly from Gourmet Rubber Stamps.  This set is called Butterfly Trio and I adore it!

Here's how I made my card...First I stamped the solid butterfly and coral pigment ink from VersaMagic and then after it was dry, I stamped the music butterfly outline over the top.  {TIP: The best way to line up these rubber stamped images is to use a Stamp-a-ma-jig ~ see tutorial below. Then I added a few pearls to the butterfly body.   The pretty coral trim and twine that was added to the button, are both from May Arts & match the card beautifully.  Then the final touch, I stamped the Best Wishes sentiment from the Say It Big Appetizer set using Rich Cocoa Memento Ink.

Have you used a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (SAMJ) before?  Here's a quick and easy tutorial on how to use this handy tool!

Step 1: Stamp your 1st image on your cardstock ~ mine is the blue solid butterfly.  Set image aside.

Step 2: Line up the plastic sheet to the corner of your SAMJ.  Note: I'm left-handed, so my SAMJ tool is on the right side.  If you are right-handed, it will be on the left.

Step 3: Put the 2nd image on your stamping block.  Make sure the plastic sheet is lined up to the corner of the SAMJ, and line up your acrylic stamping block tightly to the corner with your 2nd image (music butterfly).  Ink up your image & stamp it directly on the plastic sheet.

TIP: Don't use Staz-On (permanent ink) or pigment ink for this step.  If you will be using a product like Staz-On or pigment ink for your final project, use a waterbased dye ink just for this step and then use the desired ink for Step 6.

Step 4: Take your 1st image (blue butterfly) and lay the plastic sheet over the top.  Line it up how you want it to look when finished.

Step 5: Once you have the 2nd image on the plastic sheet lined up correctly, line up the SAMJ tool.

Step 6: Ink up your 2nd image (music butterfly) with the desired ink for your project and stamp your image so your acrylic stamping block is lined up tightly to the SAMJ tool.

Hope you have a great Monday!
Thanks so much for buzzing by today!

Watercolor Hello

CIAO!
I hope it's a very good Monday for you!

My card today uses a great new image from the latest Appetizer set called Say It Big by Gourmet Rubber Stamps.  It has been one of the favorites by the design team this month.

For the background, I used my new Gelato pigment colors ~ SO FUN & SUPER EASY!!!  Just color them on to the cardstock (I used watercolor paper) and then take a wet paint brush to smear it around.  Once it was dry, I stamped the image in black pigment ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  EASY PEASY!

Love {you}

Anyone up for a little tennis?  Well, the image is really a baseball from the Have A Ball Appetizer set by Gourmet Rubber Stamps.  However, when stamped in bright Lime green pigment ink from Clearsnap and heat embossed with clear embossing powder, it looks like a tennis ball to me!   I added the "Love You" sentiment from Everyday Sentiments...get it...TENNIS & LOVE.  LOL!

My next card uses the butterfly from the Magical Birthday Appetizer set along with the sentiment from the new Say It Big Appetizer set ~ these two sets were just made for each other!  I stamped all of the images with pigment ink from Clearsnap ~ bright and beautiful colors!

GRS Sketch Challenge!

Today the GRS Designers are having a sketch challenge & we think you should play along!   I think it's high time for spring & if you golf, then it's time to get the clubs out!  This would make a great card for the golfers in your life ~ husband, grandpa, son, father-in-law...and would be a quick and easy Fathers Day or Birthday card.   I used the Golf Cart Truffles Set.

Here's the sketch I based my card off of...I replaced the 3 buttons along the side with a golf tee and just left a gap between the image & sentiment rather than a strip of paper or ribbon.

Don't forget to peek around to see what our designers came up with for the sketch...

New Appetizer Sets from GRS!

It's the 15th and that means it's time for new Appetizer sets from Gourmet Rubber Stamps & this month it's a birthday theme!

My card today is a pocket birthday invitation for the perfect girly party & uses the new set called Magical Birthday.  I didn't want to go with the normal girl colors of pink and purple, so I picked out some pretty blues/greens/yellows.  Here's the outside of the pocket.

And here's a peek at the pull-out.

Take a peek on the GRS Blog to see the new sets & then hop around to see what our fabulous designers came up with!

GRS Sketch Challenge

It's SKETCH TIME!!!  The designers from Gourmet Rubber Stamps are all having a good time with this one!

For my card today, I used the new Butterfly image from the Laura Hunter Series.  This stamp lends itself beautifully for this sketch layout.  I added a touch of color to each butterfly using my Spectrum Noir Markers (GB5).  I also used the Flyaway Coveralls Background Stamp on the kraft cardstock and used the same tone of Memento Ink in Desert Sand.  The final stamped image is a sentiment from the Bonjour stamp set.

Here's the sketch!

Now I know you'll want to peek around to see who did what with the sketch ~ leave some love along the way because these girls have been working super hard lately!

Fun Friday ~ New Release!

Surprise!

Gourmet Rubber Stamps has some fun new images being released TODAY and they are from the Laura Hunter Series.

Here are a few samples I made with the new release.  My first card uses the Be Happy image.  I inked each line of the the image with some fabulous inks from Clear Snap called the Cat Eye Queue ~ Jelly Bean.  The inks are cat eye shaped and they are so easy to apply to the rubber stamps exactly where you want the color.  I overlapped the colors for a blended look and then sprinkled the entire image with clear embossing powder and heat embossed the artwork.  I finished off my card with some gorgeous sheer ribbon from May Arts.

My second card uses the London image.  I just stamped the image in black ink directly on the pattern paper from My Minds Eye.  Super simple!

And here is the entire Laura Hunter Series.  There are 8 single images available (each sold separately).

Several of our designers have projects to share with you today so go take a peek
and don't forget to give our ladies some love for all their hard work:

The Haiti Mission {trip}

Good Monday Morning to you my crafty friends.  It feels a bit like a Manic Monday to me, but I'm sure that will pass...{maybe by tomorrow ~ LOL}.

Anyway, today I wanted to share a special layout with you.  Last summer my sweet daughter, Megan went on a Mission Trip to Haiti with our church youth group.  Our church partners with a wonderful organization in Haiti called Children's Lifeline and they provide meals, education, job training and medical care to the local Haitians.  They do amazing work.  Megan's trip was life changing & I really wanted to document her trip on some scrapbook layouts.

For my layout, I used the Everyday Life Collection from Paper Loft.  The pattern papers are called Forward Progress (yellow) & Believe in Miracles (red distressed).  For the printed words, I used the Enjoy Accessory Sheet and cut all of the words apart ~ one of my favorite elements of the page & they are what inspired the page.  When I saw the verse on the sheet, I thought of my daughter's trip & decided to angle the photos and the words for a little visual interest.  The photo of the cross had to be at the top and I decided to stagger the photos of the beautiful children with Megan along with the individual words along the side.

To finish off the layout, I stamped a few flowers from the Blissful Blossoms set by Gourmet Rubber Stamps in grey ink & added buttons and twine for some texture.  The last piece was to add a title using the coordinating Alphabet Letter Stickers from the paper collection.

I hope you enjoyed my page today ~ I sure loved making it!
You can see the whole collection on the Paper Loft Website
and check out the blog for lots of great idea!
