Thankful Fall Harvest ~ TRC Creative Cafe Kit

Hi There!  I'm here again today to share another project using the latest Creative Cafe Kit called Fall Harvest by The Rubber Cafe.  This beautiful pumpkin harvest image is one of my favorites in the set that comes with the kit!

I started out by stamping the image from the Fall Harvest stamp set with Rich Cocoa Memento Luxe ink and heat embossing so I could easily add color to all of the details on the image.  Then I colored the image with my Spectrum Noir markers ~ DG2, DG3, DG4, EB3, EB7, DR6, OR1, OR2, OR3, GB3, GB6.

Just about everything you see on the card is included in this awesome kit ~ stamps, cardstock, pattern paper, wood button, wood banner, seam binding ribbon, burlap & jute.  The only things I needed were my ink, embossing powder, markers and die cuts.

I also heat embossed the "thankful" sentiment on the wood banner so the ink wouldn't bleed.  TIP:  I like to keep my clear embossing powder in a large container with a little scoop.  It makes it super fast and easy to pull it out and shake off the excess powder so it can be reused.

Here's the close up of my image.
I love the Autumn Song pattern paper by Bo Bunny that come with this kit ~
they are so pretty with these stamps.

Thanks for stopping by today & make sure you pop in to see all of the other fun projects the designers have been working on this month!

Whimsy Day... Silly Candy Corn

Welcome to a new week!  Yesterday I had this Halloween card featured on the Whimsy & Stars Studios Blog.  I think this image called Silly Candy Corn is adorable!

I used Doodlebug's Halloween Collection called Haunted Manor for the pattern paper and colored my image with my Spectrum Noir Markers (OR1, OR2, OR3, CT2, CT3, CT4, LV3, IG1, Blender, CG1, CG3).  The orange and purple Goosebump gems (by Queen & Company) are in all four corners of the card and the last touch was to add some orange flock to the little fuzzy pom poms on the candy corn, and some purple flock to the spots on the balloons.

Hi There!  I'm here today to share my second project of October using the latest Creative Cafe Kit called Fall Harvest by The Rubber Cafe.  This beautiful cornucopia image is perfect for any Thanksgiving or fall creation!

I started out by stamping the image from the Fall Harvest stamp set with Rich Cocoa Memento Luxe ink and heat embossing so I could easily add color to my detailed flowers.  Then I colored the image with my Spectrum Noir markers ~ DG2, DG3, DG4, EB3, EB4, EB7, DR6, OR3, GB3, GB6.

Just about everything you see on the card is included in this awesome kit ~ stamps, cardstock, pattern paper, wood button, wood banner, seam binding ribbon, and gold leaves.  The only things I needed were my ink, embossing powder, markers and die cuts.

I also heat embossed the "autumn" sentiment on the wood banner so the ink wouldn't bleed.

More from Alaska!

Hi Friends!  It's been a while since I have had time to work on my Alaska album & I'm super excited that I had a chance to work on it this weekend.  I went to a scrapbooking retreat with one of my dearest friends & we had a blast.  The only thing I worked on was my Alaska book and I'm almost done with the last album ~ thank goodness!

These photos were taken at Hubbard Glacier in June 2011.  It was a dreary day, but the colors from the glacier were still amazing!  The letter stickers are from a kit by Simple Stories and the stamps are from Unity.

Thanks for buzzing by today!

Halloween Mummy..

Hi Friends ~ I'm here today with a fun little Halloween card using the Mummy Digital Image from Hambo Stamps.

First I printed my image from my computer in the size I wanted.  The great part about digital images is that you can make them any size you want!  Then I colored my image using Spectrum Noir Markers (see colors listed below).   Since the background of my image is white, I wanted my mummy to stand out so I used a light gray marker to add just a little bit of color.   The final detail was to add googly eyes on the cute little mummy!

Supplies:
Digital Image ~ Hambo Stamps (Mummy)

Cardstock ~ Bazzill
Pattern Paper ~ Echo Park

Ribbon ~ May Arts
Spectrum Noir Markers ~ OR1, OR2, OR3, CT3, CT4, CG3, CG4, FS2, FS3, TN2, IG1

TRC Creative Cafe Kits ~ Fall Harvest!

Fall is such a beautiful time of year in the mid-west.  The fields are harvested, the leaves are turning and there are pumpkins everywhere.  This month's Creative Cafe Kit by The Rubber Cafe is no different because it is filled with beautiful products that are already coordinated for you.

My projects today are two envelope cards using the little kraft bags that come with the kit.  The bags measure approximately 4" x 2 3/4", so they are perfect on their own or you can put them on a card front.   Kraft is one of my favorite colors to work with, so these bags were the first thing I picked up with my kit arrived!   Below are some close ups for my envelope bags & inserts along with directions and tips on how I made my project.

Step 1: Since the kraft bags are a little bit darker, I decided to stamp my images from the Harvest Time stamp set with Rich Cocoa Memento Luxe Pigment ink and heat emboss it with clear embossing powder.

TIP: I heat embossed my images for a few reasons ~ 1)  I wanted the stamped image to stand out.   2) I wanted to use my alcohol ink markers to color the images and sometimes on kraft bags, the marker saturates and bleeds a little too much.  If you heat emboss with powder, the ink will stay within the lines.  But be careful when coloring that you don't go over the embossed lines too much because you don't want to ruin your marker tips.

Step 2: I colored my images with my Spectrum Noir markers.  Pumpkins ~ DG2, DG3, DG4, EB3, EB4, DR6, OR3.  Sunflowers ~ GB3, GB6, DG4, DR6, EB3, EB4, EB7.

Here's a close up of my sunflower image with all the pretty details.

Step 3: I wanted to mirror the rounded scallop edge of the bag for the insert.  I used the orange cardstock in the kit and trimmed it to 2 1/2" wide x 4 1/4" long.   Then I used one of my scallop circle dies and trimmed off the top edge.   TIP:  slip the top of the cardstock through the die if you only want the top cut (see the photo below).   I repeated the same process with the brown cardstock for the other envelope.

Once the top is cut with the die, cut the bottom with a paper trimmer so it fits perfectly inside the envelope with the scallop edge peeking out. (see photo above for the finished look)

Step 4: I stamped the sunflower image with VersaMark Ink for the part of the insert that would be peeking out of the kraft bag and added some Bo Bunny Autumn Song pattern paper on each insert (2 3/4" x 2 1/4").

Step 5: For the sentiment, I wanted to combine a few of the words in the Harvest Time set.  I used the "Happy" from the Happy Thanksgiving sentiment and the Harvest for one insert & then the Autumn for the other.

TIP: Here's a super easy way to stamp a portion of a sentiment.  I put some tape over the portion I don't want to use, ink up the stamp and then remove the tape before I stamp the image on my cardstock.  EASY PEASY!  But make sure your stamp is VERY CLEAN before you stamp.  If there is any ink or if your scrubber pad is dirty, you may get a faint image on your cardstock.

After I stamped the "Happy", I added the word "autumn" from the set.

Step 6: To punch out the sentiment, I like to turn my punches over so I can see it in the window and line it up perfectly.

Step 7: Here is the insert for my pumpkin envelope. I stamped the sunflower image in the background with Antique Linen Distress Ink and then a sequin and pearl accent.  The pretty pearls come with the Creative Cafe Kit and I colored it with my orange marker.

For the Sunflower insert I added some of the gold leaf sequins from the kit and colored one of the pearls with a brown marker.

Step 8: I love the wooden buttons included with the kit, but decided to try and color one of them with my dark brown marker.  It worked great!!!  Here it is partially colored.

Step 9: I wrapped the jute around each kraft envelope and knotted it.  On the sunflower envelope, I added the wooden button.

I know you'll love creating with this beautiful kit!  Keep checking back to The Rubber Cafe blog for lots of inspiration from the design team!

Hambo Hoedown Challenge... Vellum

Today there is a new Hambo Hoedown Challenge and this week we are playing with Vellum.   I used the House 2 Digi Image from Hambo Stamps for this fun little Halloween card.  I thought it was perfect to make into a spooky haunted house.  I used a spider web embossing folder on the 4" x 5 1/4" piece of vellum for the background and then ran it through my Xyron machine to attach it to the gray cardstock mat.  The cute little spider stickers and spooky ribbon finish off the card.

Play along with us on the challenge ~ you now have TWO weeks to add your link to the Hoedown.  Take a peek to see what the other designers came up with too!

Vintage Butterflies...

Hi Friends and Happy October!  I really don't have a clue where September flew away to...but here we are and it's October 1st already.

My card today features on of my favorite collections from Crafter's Companion ~ Stamp-It Australia.  This set is called Birds and Butterflies and it has such pretty images that makes super simple cards.  I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on some pattern paper by My Mind's Eye & added some pretty die cut butterflies.  After some layers and lovely May Arts trim... the card is complete!  Easy Peasy!

Thanks for fluttering by today!
