For my project today, I am using the beautiful new set from Melanie Muenchinger called Stately Flowers 9. Below is a tutorial on how I colored my pretty Black-eyed Susan flowers.
For my project today, I am using the beautiful new set from Melanie Muenchinger called Stately Flowers 9. Below is a tutorial on how I colored my pretty Black-eyed Susan flowers.
Step 2: For some variation of color to the stem, add Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils (058, 059).
Step 3: For the dark brown centers of the flowers, start with EB3 and color the entire area. Next, add EB5 on the top and side of each.
** Notice the tips of my pens ~ one is the bullet tip and the other I replaced the chisel tip for a brush nib ~ both tips are great ways to color, but I think it is a personal preference. If you are used to coloring with brush tips, then you may want to switch some of them out on the colors you use the most. I tend to like using the bullet tips better, but I have changed out a few here and there.
Step 4: Add a bit of TN8 (which is very dark brown) on the very top of each flower center.
Step 5: Working on one flower at a time, use GB7 and add color working from the center of the flower outward.
Step 6: Next, add GB4 overlapping the GB7 so they start to blend.
Step 7: Add GB1 over the entire flower to blend the colors.
Step 8: Add GB6 from the center outward, so there is a bit more contrast.
Here are both flowers finished.
And the Spectrum Noir Colors I used.
Step 9: Trim the colored flowers with detail cutting scissors.
Step 10: Using GB4 marker and color the flowers on the Kraft cardstock.
Step 11: Attach the flowers with foam dots. TIP: I like to color the flowers underneath because when I attach the flowers with foam dots, you can see the stamped petals under it.

Kendra,
Since I have never been much of a "pink girl" I am much more likely to make your card with the Black-eyed Susans than the cards with the apple blossoms (as pretty as they are).
