Gina K ~ Inspiration Hop Day #2

The Cast and Crew for Gina K Designs welcomes you to Day #2 of the fabulous Inspiration Blog Hop!  We are ready to inspire you with many beautiful ideas using the most recent releases! As you hop through the blogs, make sure to leave a comment on each because we will choose a few random comments and those stampers will each win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! To see the full list of winners, check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hop. {see all the hop links are listed below after my tutorial...}

For my card today, I used the lovely new Vertical Greetings 2 by Theresa Momber and colored the beautiful floral image with my Spectrum Noir Markers and Blendable Colored Pencils.

Today I started coloring my flowers with basic blending techniques using 3 colors in the same Citrus (CT) color family ~ CT1, CT3, CT4.  First I colored the entire petal with the blender marker to "prime" the cardstock so the colors with blend nicely.  NOTE: Work with one flower petal at a time so the inks stay wet.  They will blend better.    Here is the first petal I completed... the next several photos will show how I did it.

On the bottom outside edge of the flower petal, I started with the CT4 marker (the darkest color) and followed the edge of the design.

Next, I added CT3 (the next darkest color) just above & slightly overlapping the CT4 color and then around the top of the petal.   Then I added the CT1 around slightly overlapping the CT3 and then used it to blend the CT4 & CT3 colors.  I left some white in the center of each petal.

You'll notice the edge of this petal has a double line, so I wanted to make that area a bit darker.  Therefore I added a bit of GB3 (Gold/Brown) to the area and then used the CT1 to blend it in.

Here are my completed flower petals... on the full flower, I left just a hint of white showing in the center of each petal.

Next I worked on the flower stems and leaves using the DG2 & DG4 markers {both of which I replaced the chisel tips with brush nibs}.   I started with the DG2 and colored everything in and then added just a bit of DG4 to the tip of the DG2 marker and used the DG2 marker to add the darker shade to the stems/leaves.

After adding a bit of brown to the center of the flower (EB6, EB8), I used my Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils to shade various areas of the flowers and stems.

Here's the final look!
I also colored some clear gems with my DG2 marker to match the card.

Now it's time to HOP!  Make sure you leave some love along the way for your chance to win some fun Gina K prizes!

Beautiful flower and tutorial. I love that you are telling the names of the markers. I keep wondering what the alphabets like CT are referring to. Now, I know that it is Citrus.
