CAS Thank You

The other day I wanted to sit down and just whip up a few very simple cards.  So I pulled out one of my Crafter's Companion stamp sets called Journal Jottings from the Textures collection, some inks and the Die'sire Thank You die.  This card took just a few minutes to make & it would so easy to make a bunch in a variety of colors for a gift set or to have on hand when needed.

Marching Band Pocket Pages... {happy place}

Hi Friend!!!  Last weekend I was able to get away with my sister and BFF to go scrapbooking for the weekend.  It was so nice to just sit and scrapbook for a solid block of time without interruptions!  I was able to complete ALL of Matt's Freshman year of band events (which was the 2014/15 school year)!  I have also completed several pages in his Sophomore year (the CURRENT school year - I know it's shocking)!   Here are a few of the pages & pocket inserts that I completed.

This is the cover page that starts out his band books... I did the same for Megan and it's a fun way to see how kids change from Freshman to Senior year.  I am following the exact same format and colors that I used for Megan.  It makes things simple and cohesive. {Although, I will admit, after doing 5 years of band books in green, black and white ~ with a touch of kraft thrown in ~ I'm tired of those colors at the moment}

I make a full size pocket page for each year and put all of the newspaper clippings in it.
This page is for Sophomore year... when they won State!

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of what I've been working on in scrapbooking.  I'm ready to move on to a new subject for a bit... maybe a trip book, before I work on the rest of his Sophomore year.

Taylored Expressions Patriotic Card

Since today is President's Day here in the US... I'm sharing a new patriotic Taylored Expressions card that I made.   

I used the Stars & Stripes Stamp & Die Combo set for my card.  The set comes with this fabulous flag in the shape of our country and the die that lines up perfectly.  There are also several wonderful sentiments included.  {links below}

TE ~ Emboss Resist with Watercolors

 Hi Friends!  It's finally Friday & for us, it's a nice long Presidents Day weekend.  Today, I have a fun card to share for Taylored Expressions with this month's Technique - Emboss Resist!

I used the stamp called Leave A Little Sparkle and embossed it on watercolor paper with white pigment ink and then heat embossed it with white embossing power.   Then I used watercolor makers, a palette and a waterbrush to do a watercolor wash over the top of the embossing.  As a finishing touch, I added sequins, rhinestones and some glitter for the "sparkle" needed.

Gina K Tutorial & Challenge!

Hi Friends!  I am hosting the Gina K Designs ~ Stamp TV Challenge today for the first time & thought you might like to play along.  The challenge today is to use KRAFT CARDSTOCK!  Why KRAFT?  Because it goes with ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!  As long as there is KRAFT cardstock somewhere on your project, it counts!  {Challenge details are linked at the end of my post}

Here is my project using the new incentive stamp set called Coffee Therapy.  It can be yours for FREE with a $75 order from Gina K Designs!  And... I have a bonus today a tutorial on how I made the coffee rings with my Spectrum Aqua Markers ~ just keep scrolling down!

Step 1: Gather supplies.  Spectrum Aqua Markers (Sepia, Chocolate); Plastic Palette (or non-stick craft mat works well too); coffee mug; kraft cardstock and Coffee Therapy stamp set.  NOTE: Make sure you use waterbased markers for this technique, NOT alcohol ink markers.

Step 2: Scribble both Spectrum Aqua colors on the plastic palette.  I used the center of my palette because you need a larger area than the small wells.

Step 3: Using a mister, spray some water on the ink (no more than one or two is plenty).

Step 4: Pull out a coffee mug from your cabinet and use it like a stamp to the ink on the palette.

Step 5: Twist it around to get some ink on the mug.

Step 6: Stamp the mug on the cardstock to make the coffee ring.

Step 7: Repeat inking and stamping for the desired number of coffee rings.  Clean up: Because the Spectrum Aquas are waterbased ink, just use a wet paper towel or a baby wipe to clean up the ink.

Step 8: I also added some ink splatter to my card front after the rings were stamped.  You can find that technique HERE (I used the Chocolate Spectrum Aqua Marker for the ink Splatter).

Taylored Expressions Release Day: Wildflower Bouquet

Yipee!  It's release day for the Taylored Expressions February Release!!!  I just love the stamp set I'm going to show you today... it's called Wildflower Bouquet and it has a coordinating die by the same name.

I thought the Lattice Cutting Plate was the perfect background to add for this stamp image and then put some red patterned paper behind it & it really pops!  I colored the image with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to match the colors in the pretty patterned paper.  

Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker Colors Used ~ Brick Beige, Deep Brown, Deep Red, Geranium Red, Bright Yellow, Beige, Ochre, Dull Blue, Shadow Mauve, Haze Blue, Deep Blue, Mid Green, Olive Green.
