a message for my friend... have hope

Welcome to a new week on my blog... the next few weeks will be busy around here & I wanted to share this card I made for a friend of mine using supplies from Taylored Expressions.

For the main image, I framed the Fine Feathers dies with the Frame in Frame Cutting Plate, then I added Angel Pink ink and then dabbed Rose Bud Memento ink on them for some texture.   For the sentiment, I used the new Free Spirit stamp set.

TE Die Focus: Mini Envelope Die

Today I wanted to send out some sunshine to my friends using the fun Mini Envelope Die from Taylored Expressions!  I know lots of momma hearts are breaking right now because we have reached the time in our lives that we are sending our "babies" off for their freshman year of college.   This is what they worked for for the last 18 years and what we wished & prayed for them.  BUT... IT IS SO HARD LETTING GO!!!   So that was the reason for the pretty sunflowers and "sending you sunshine" sentiment.

In addition to this fabulous die, I used the stamp set called A Bushel & A Peck.  Such a fun set for all occasions.

I hope your day is filled with sunshine!

Happy Birthday Crafter's Companion!!!

Hi Everyone!  It is Crafter's Companion US 8th Birthday and our designers are very excited to share a fun Birthday Blog Hop with you today with lots of fun prizes and fabulous creations.  Check out the details of the prizes below.

The card I am sharing today is one that I made using the fabulous Spectrum Aqua Markers ~ one of my favorite products {and they are on special this week}!

I started my card with the new Sheena Douglass Christmas Rose Embossing Folder.  I love this folder because it can be used any time of the year.  First, I embossed the folder on Spectrum Noir Watercolor paper and then I used VersaMark Ink and a brayer to apply the ink to the raised design.  Next, I added clear embossing powder to the piece and shook off the excess & used a heat gun to melt it on the paper.  Next, I used a water brush and several Spectrum Aqua Markers to color my piece.  (Begonia, Marigold, Gold, Sunflower, Olive, Moss, and Aquamarine).  I added a sentiment from the Free as a Bird stamp set and added a mat and cardbase of the watercolor paper.  I really love how it turned out.

Now for the prizes!!!  Just look at this HUGE prize package.  Click below for all the details.

Gina K Back to School Blog Hop!

The Cast and Crew for Gina K Designs welcomes you to a special BACK TO SCHOOL blog hop! Gina, along with the Cast and Crew, will inspire you with many fun cards and projects for your favorite student, their teacher or your friends that are in the teaching profession!

As you hop through Gina and the Cast & Crew blogs, make sure to leave a comment on each of them because we will choose a random comment and that stamper will win their choice of a Gina K Designs stamp set with a value up to $23.95!  To see if you are the winner, check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hop.  {The blog hop list is at the end of my post}

There are a number of stamp sets from Gina K Designs that you can use to create a welcome, thank you or back to school card. Today, our featured sets are Melanie Muenchinger’s Basket Additions 3 and Beth Silaika’s Keep Calm. There are lots of great images to color and I know you will find the perfect sentiment for Back to School!
For my project, I used Melanie's Basket Additions 3 set with the super cute school image and sentiment peeking out of my pocket card.  Keep scrolling down to see a fun Spectrum Noir Colored Pencil tutorial.

Here's the gift card tab pulled out of the pocket.

Step 1: First I prepared my pocket and insert.  I also stamped my image and trimmed it with scissors.

Step 2: Select colors for the various items of the image - Pencil: 007, 018; Notebook paper - 004; Apple - 25, 28, 33.

Step 3: When coloring the apple, begin with the lightest shade (025) and color the entire apple.  Then add 028 along the edges and slightly toward the middle.  Then add 033 along the outside edge of the apple.

Step 4: Add shades of green on the apple leaf - 045, 048.

Step 5: Color the entire lunch box with the lightest shade of blue 065.  Then add 069 along the edge and toward the middle & 071 along the very edge.

Step 6: Add shades of gray (118, 119) on the handle and edges of the lunch box.

Step 7: Using shades of green (045, 048, 058) to color the notebook.

Step 8: While the colored image looks OK, the color will blend beautifully with Spectrum Noir Blending Solution and paper blending stumps.

Before...

After!!  So much better ... don't you agree?
(by the way, make sure you use a different paper stump for each color family)

Don't forget to visit all of the blog & leave some love for your chance to win!

Create-A-Card Release from Crafter's Companion

Hi Friends ~ Happy Friday!!   Once again, sorry I've been so hit and miss on my blog.  Life is taking over right now with marching band and getting my daughter ready for college.  But it's all good stuff!

I wanted to pop on today and share a pretty new die with you that is coming out later today from Crafter's Companion.  There are 6 new US sized dies being released (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") & this pretty angel is one of them.

The die is called Christmas Angel and I've shown it here on a White Pearl & Pink Pearl Shimmer Step Easel card.  The embossed snowflake panels on each side of the card, are from the Nordic Christmas - Frosty Morning Embossing Folder. I cut out the pretty angel & embossed my snowflakes with my Cut n' Boss... oh wow, does it make things easier!

Have a great weekend!

New Create-A-Card Dies from Crafter's Companion

Today I have a sneak peek of a some new Create-A-Card dies coming out this week from Crafter's Companion.   These dies have been specifically sized for the US market so they fit our standard card size of 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  Unlike other dies on the market, they don't trim the outside edge so you can do lots of different things with them... like make a box ~ like I did here.

These dies are coming out on Friday and there are 3 new designs and 3 die have been resized from last Christmas.

Taylored Expressions Release Day!

Woohoo!  Today is release day for the August Taylored Expressions release.  And today I am using one of my new favorite "Go To" sets called Simply Stamped Daisies.

I used several colors of Memento Inks for my daisies and leaves and then trimmed them with the coordinating dies.  For the border, I trimmed the Cookie Monster TE Premium Cardstock using the Build A Scene Rolling Hills die and then embossed it with the Dotted Lattice Embossing Folder.

Check out what the designers have been working on for today's sneak peeks ~ links for today's designers are on the Taylored Expressions Blog.  Don't forget to leave a little love along the way for all of the designers!
