The beauty of winter...part 1

I've decided that if I ever get tired of papercrafting, I will take up photography as a hobby. Not that I'm that good, it's just that I really enjoy it.

This time of year is very hard on those of us that really don't enjoy winter. However, as much as I don't enjoy it, I do find it easy to look for the beauty God presents to us. I decided to go outside the other day (in the -20 degree temps) to take a some pictures around our home (yes Debbie, this is OUR neighborhood ~ LOL). So today, rather than papercrafting projects, I'm going to share some of my photographs.

Inchie Friday ~ Great Skate '08

During Christmas break, we took the kids to a new Skate park in the town next to ours. It's a great little outdoor skating oval with rails, trees, and park benches. The kids have never been skating and they loved it. I was excited to scrapbook this page & remember that fun day we spent together ~ that's what it's all about!


I used my white Inchie squres a few different ways today. First in the title where I coved it with textured cardstock and then added the year with rub-on numbers. Next, I added three Inchie squares with stamped images. The images were stamped in white pigment ink and then embossed with white embossing powder. After I attached them to the Inchie squares, I added some Shimmerz Paint (Angel Wings) to make some parts of the images glittery.

Once again in this layout, I used the triangle design technique by using items in groups of three ~ Inchies, snowflakes, rows/columns, and I even used 3 snowflakes for the background. This technique helps your eye follow the page from left to right and top to bottom.

Teacher Thank You Notes...

It's always a good time to thank the teachers that help our kids so much throughout the year. Why not surprise them with a little note in their mailbox? Today's projects are from the new Lizzie Anne Designs set called School Days. I love all the new sets from Lizzie Anne this time around (which is not a shock because I always do) ~ but this one is probably at the top of the list!

I also think the set is matches this very cool paper from KI Memories. It's one of my very favorite companies for papercrafting supplies because it fits in perfectly with my style ~ clean and simple.

Once again, I also used the fabulous paper by My Mind's Eye called Irresistible & my Nestabilities.

My last little card is called a Scrapling. It's a 2" x 4 1/4" card that is just perfect as a gift enclosure.

I also used some new Label Nestabilities ~ which are so cool & of course the yummy velvet Ric-Rac by May Arts.

Good Morning! Well another weekend is upon us and I've had a super busy week. I think I crammed about 3 weeks worth of work into this one week ~ but it's all good! That being said ~ I'm not going to be super chatty this weekend. However, I did want to show you these super cute, adorable cards using my Love Bug set from Our Craft Lounge!

Inchie Friday ~ January Calendar

Inchie Friday is Back for 2009! I took a week off since I was finding it hard to work on projects with everyone underfoot during the holidays. I can't believe how much I can get done when the kids are at school and my hubby is back to work!

So I had an idea several months ago to incorporate the Inchies with a photo calendar. Since it's a new year, I decided to give it a go!

The first page of my project is the cover for my calendar. I decided not to put a year so I could use it again. As you may have noticed, I stamped an image for each season on the Inchies & then colored them with my Copic Markers.

The stand I am using is just a clear acrylic CD case ~ super simple & very inexpensive!

Here is my January page! I love this picture of my son. I took it last year when he was out in our yard building a snow cave ~ so cute!

The calendar template is my own. I just did it in an Excel file ~ easy!

This is a super easy technique with stamping directly on the Inchie squares.

• I stamped the mittens in white pigment ink & then sprinkled white embossing powder on top. Shook off the extra and heat embossed it. The Inchie squares emboss VERY WELL!
• Next, I colored the background with a Copic marker.
• I used my December Sky Shimmerz paint and painted the color on the mittens. It's got the bling built into the paint ~ so pretty!
• I painted on some Angel Wings Shimmerz paint on the background because I thought it was too dull.
• Then I simply attached the Inchie on some cardstock & a scallop square and added it to the calendar. So simple!
