Marching Band ~ More Pocket Pages!

Happy Friday!  I was looking through my blog the other day and noticed this post in my drafts folder & realized I never finished up posting my son's band pages from Junior year. And... I still have all of Senior year to share as well. I guess I should get busy!

For these pages, I used an assortment of supplies from various kits I had on hand ~ Ali Edwards story kits, Hip Kit Club, Elle's Studio, and Felicity Jane.

{Embrace} One Little Word ~ February Prompt

Today I worked on the One Little Word prompt for February. This month's activity involved making a vision board for our word. Once again this year, I decided to put the page right in my album rather than make a larger canvas for my wall. I'm trying to live my word more this year, but document it a bit less then last year.

I found a new-to-me magazine at the store a few weeks ago and the gorgeous pink flowers on the cover really spoke to me so I flipped through it. It is called Life:Beautiful and it is a really nice publication ~ and at $5.99, it didn't break the bank either.  I also used a few phrases from an Ulta store advertisement as well as the February card & phrase stickers from the Ali Edwards One Little Word kit.

Ali Edwards Story Kit ~ Celebrate Together

Hello Friends!  I've been working like crazy to get my son's junior year band album done so I can get started on senior year.  Well ... GUESS WHAT?  Over the weekend I finished his last few pages.  I'm super excited!!  I do a full album (like 100 layouts) for each school year.  I stated this madness when my daughter was a freshman and I'm determined to finish before my son graduates ~ that is a total of 8 super full albums!

Today it was actually sunny outside, so I took some pictures using natural light. To be honest, I'm not really sure it is any better then the light box I have set up in my basement.  These pocket pages are incredibly time consuming to photograph, so I'm not even going to try taking photos in the light box to see if they are better.

So anyway.... I wanted to share a few pages I made using the Ali Edwards Story Kit called For the Love.  It is a fun kit with lots of great journaling cards and embellishments.   I also added some coordinating supplies from older Story Kits here and there.

I love having the digital versions of the Story Kits because I can add my journaling in Photoshop Elements and then print them out like I did on the top left card on the page below.

Have A Wonderful Day!

Ali Edwards Story Kits ~ Marching Band Events

Welcome to a new week!  I didn't get a chance to get a blog post done yesterday, so I'll share 2 layouts with you today. I decided for both of these double layouts, that I wanted to go a bit minimal on the embellishments.  I had lots of photos from both Regionals and Semi-State, and wanted to include as many of them as I could.

For this first layout, I used journaling cards from the Ali Edwards Details Story Kit & digital stamps from the Drive Story Stamp. For the "Heart of the Matter" card, I changed the color of the letters to red, to coordinate with all the red in the photos and the theme of the show {Defence.les/Heart}.  On the Story Details card, I added journaling under the photo and added a pull tab.

For my Semi-State page, I again had tons of photos and wanted to include so many.  I used the grey tear-apart phrases from the 2017 Week in the Life kit with stars from the Best Story Kit.  I also used a journaling card from the digital version of the Best Story Kit.  Using Photoshop Elements, I changed the color of the star on the card to purple to match the title card & the background color to white from cream.

Ali Edwards Fun Story Kit ~ Grand Opening

As you can tell from my blog posts this week, I've been working on my son's band book quite a bit. I decided to pull out all of my Ali Edwards Story Kits and get them used up. I am making a huge dent in them and having a blast!

For this page, I used the Fun & Best Story Kits. In addition to the physical kits, I also have the digital version. Often times, I'll use the digital jounaling cards to add text, but for this page, I changed the colors on some of the cards in Photoshop Elements. I changed some of the colors of the stars to red so it would match my page and I changed the Awesome card to red as well.

Have A Great Weekend!

Ali Edwards Story Kit Pages ~ Fun, Lens, and Time

Hello My Friends!

Yup ~ I have 3 more marching band pages today all featuring different Story Kits from Ali Edwards. My first page uses the Fun Story Kit & features pictures from Cedar Point.

For the Formal Picture page, I used the Lens Story Kit.

And for this band practice page, I used the Time Story Kit.

Project 52 ~ Week #3

As you can see, I've been mixing it up quite a bit with the types of projects I've been making. While admit that using the App isn't my favorite way to scrapbook, I do love this project and I know it's the only way I would getting any weekly documenting done. If I could manage doing weekly spreads with physical products, I probably would, but I know that isn't realistic for me & I don't need one more unfinished project.

For my page this week, I used cards from the Copper Mountain & Planetarium Card Collections. No overlays today... just straightforward cards, pictures and journaling.

Ali Edwards Best Story Kit ~ Parent Preview

Today I am continuing on with my son's junior year marching band album and sharing a page using the Ali Edwards Story Kit called Best. All of the cards and some embellishments are from the Best kit.  Then I looked in my stash and found some other great embellishments from the Lost & Found and Bond story kits.  I also added several Taylored Expressions die, cork embellishments from Studio Calico & sticker letters Simple Stories on this page. I have so many wonderful products in my stash & I'm making it a goal to use them.

I still prefer adding typed journaling to my pages, so I typed this on my computer and then added it to the journal card.  Sometimes I cut it out and add it & other times I type the journaling directly to the digital version of the card & print it out on my photo printer.  NOTE: When you subscribe to both the Ali Edwards Story Kit & the Story Stamp, you get the digital version free.  This is called Hybrid Scrapbooking & I love it.

Hope you have an AMAZING day!

Marching Band Pages ~ Junior Year Begins!

Happy Monday Friends!

I posted a few of the beginning pages for my son's junior year marching band album last week & now I'm excited to share a few more. I like to prepare & present these pages in chronological order because it tells the whole story and progression of the season. So first up is Drum Major camp... we were so blessed that first our daughter and then our son were named as drum majors for our amazing band. On this first very simple page, I used the teal and black cardstock and chipboard letters to match the photos.  My goal for this page was just to get the story documented.

I went on a scrapbooking retreat in November and my goal was to use supplies from my building stack of unused Ali Edwards Story kits. I love using them, but had at least 8 or 10 kits still in packages because of a very busy spring through fall.  I thought it would be a great challenge to try and work with primarily these Story Kits, Story Stamps and maybe few added alphabets or embellishments.  I used the Fun Story Kit/Story Stamp on the following pages & love how they turned out.

Again, I used the Fun Story Kit on this page and added the title using a Thickers chipboard alphabet for the title.

I'll be back with more pages tomorrow!
Enjoy your day!

Studio Calico Kit ~ April & May Highlights

Hello Friends!

I'm back today with some pocket pages that I made several months ago & finally had an opportunity to photograph them.  Sometimes I put off taking pictures of these pages because they are more time consuming to take out of the pockets and line up. If I would just take the photos as soon as the pages were complete, I wouldn't have this issue!  LOL!!

For this summary page of April events, I used my Studio Calico Documenter kit from the same month. I enjoyed these SC kits because the style coordinates so well with the Ali Edwards kits; however, I felt like I was falling too far behind with my kits.  After the August kit when my subscription ended, I decided to cancel it & stick with just Ali's Story kits and my Felicity Jane kits for a while.

I don't use yellow very often, but the May Studio Calico kit was full of yellow, black and white elements.  It made for a bright, fun page.

 Have a Fabulous Day!

{Embrace} One Little Word ~ January Prompt

This past week I started working on my One Little Word prompt for January. I've decided to for a very clean and simple look this year using the Ali Edwards pink album & 2018 OLW kit.   I also ordered this sweet little Whole Heart - Pocket Tailsman with my word {Embrace} on it from Soul Mantras.  I love it & will include it in my photos 💗

At the beginning of each year, the January prompt is all about learning things about your OLW and what you want to work on for the upcoming year.  The cards for my cover page are all from the OLW 2018 Ali Edwards kit.  I added the pink hearts and letter stickers.

I like the clean and simple look of typing up my journaling, so I also used the cards that come in the digital OLW package that comes free with the OLW class purchase.  The quote is from a Pinterest search & the pink stamped image is from the new OLW stamp set called This One Life.

Even though all of these cards/pages came with the physical kit, I did all of my journaling on the computer and used the digital cards.  Then I added more stamping in pink for little bits of color.

Depending on the prompts in the coming months, I'm sure that I'll have more color on my pages, but for this month, the focus is really on the content.

One Little Word ~ December 2017

This week I finished up several scrapbooking albums with some long & short term projects.  I set some pretty steep scrapbook goals at the beginning of 2017 to document more stories with words and photos. This year marked the first time in over 10 years that I wasn't on a design teams or a design team coordinator.  I made that decision because I really wanted to go back to my first crafty-love of scrapbooking.  Simply put, I missed getting lost in the photos and memories that came along with them.  Over the last 5 years in particular, all of my crafting time had become about making cards and working part time doing administrative duties for various companies.  While I loved being on the design teams & made so many wonderful friends over the years, I needed the time and space to get back into my books & find some new companies I love.

Anyway,  back to my completed projects for 2017!  The first project I finished this week was my December Daily album detailing our holiday activities through this month.  I'm thrilled with how it turned out and hope that years down the road our family will enjoy those memories. You can check out my December Daily link for all of the pages.

Another album I am almost finished with is my Project 52 for 2017 in the Project Life App. I just have a few more photos to add for today and tomorrow & the journaling... I'll share that page as soon as it's done.  Next week I'll send the pages off to be printed & finish it up!

And one other project that will come to an end is one that I've been working on all year long.  My One Little Word album ~ {Explore}. It was a great word for me and really kept me focused on telling more stories and taking more photos... but it was also so much more. It's not so much a scrapbook project as it is a personal journal about where I am and what I'm feeling.  Below are the wrap-up pages for the December prompt which was to talk about the Facts, Feelings, and things I want to remember about my word this year.

I felt like this album needed a finishing page, so I took some self-portraits with my word to finish it off.  The "New Adventures Await" photo moves me into 2018 and my new word... which I will share soon ;)

December Daily 2017 ~ Final Pages!

WOOHOO ~ I finished my December Daily album for 2017!  It's always a wonderful feeling to finish the final pages of an album.   For the final three pages, I used the Ali Edwards December Daily kit.

One of my favorite photos of this year was this family photo taken Christmas Eve morning.

Documenting so many fun Christmas traditions!

I hope you enjoyed seeing a glimpse of our December stories.

December Daily ~ Day #17 to 22

You may wonder why I would add additional projects to my To Do List during such a busy time of the year, but December Daily is kind of special. Everyone is home, it's a short-term project, and it documents several of our family holiday traditions.

For Day #17 - 22, I used everything from the Ali Edwards DD kit.  Like many of my previous pages, I wrote my journaling in Word and trimmed them to fit inside the journaling cards.  I do this for a few reasons, I like telling longer stories and the clean look.

I love how these next few pages turned out.  Again, I used the Ali Edwards DD kit for a majority of the products.  The red polka-dot paper is from Felicity Jane & the pocket is actually from my Christmas card order that came from minted.com with an invoice inside.  See below for the original look.

I included a list of items I almost always buy for our traditional holiday cooking as well as a list of everything I wrapped as gifts for our family.

Here is the original pocket.

Just a few more days to go on my December Daily.  I'm hoping to finish up the pages before the week is over!

Enjoy your day!

December Daily ~ Days 12 through 16

During such a busy time of year, it's always wonderful to have some time to relax and work on a project that I love.  December Daily is the perfect project for those days because I just tell one story for each day of the month.  Today, I'm sharing day #12 to #16...

I added our 2-sided Christmas card to the album by attaching one to each side of a clear sheet.  Then I placed it inside a page protector.

For Day #14, I used Ali Edwards new "For the Love" story kit.

Not a very Christmas-y event... but that's what the weekend brought.

Enjoy Your Day!

December Daily ~ Days 8 through 11

I've been working all week on catching up on my December Daily and finally took some photos of the pages.  Sometimes that's the hardest part!

I've been using the Ali Edwards & the Jasmine Jones December Daily kits for my pages and I'm pretty excited about how the album is coming together.  Here are Day #8 to #11 ~ Enjoy!

For our family, December isn't just about Christmas.  We also have several birthdays in the bunch!

Have a wonderful weekend!
