Blog Hop Day #1: Watercolor Background Tutorial with Gina K & Spectrum Noir!

The Cast and Crew for Gina K Designs welcomes you to another fabulous Inspiration Blog Hop! Gina, along with the Cast and Crew and Guest Designers, will inspire you with many beautiful ideas! And as you hop through our blogs, make sure to leave a comment on each of them because we will choose a few random comments and those stampers will each win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! You'll see the list of winners check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hops.

For my card today, I used one of the new images from the new Stamp TV Kit ~ The Simple Things.  The set I used is called the same...The Simple Things.  Here's what I came up with... and keep scrolling down to see how I made it.

First I selected a piece of water color paper and trimmed it 3.5" x 4.5".  Then I selected several colors of Gold/Brown GB markers ~ starting with the darkest one (GB9).  Using the chisel tip, I simply started coloring a few strokes across the width of the paper.

Next, I took the GB8 marker and overlapped the GB9 and then went above that a little bit more.

I continued on with the GB7 marker...

Then added GB6, GB4, GB3, GB2, GB1 (in that order.  Then I used the GB1 marker and went over the entire colored area.

Next I took the IB1 marker and colored the entire bottom of the card and added a bit of IB2 in a few spots.    Then I used the GB1 & IB1 markers to go over the areas again to blend them.

Using Dark Chocolate ink, I stamped the grass.  I also made a frame and stamped a sentiment from the set with the same ink.  This is such an easy technique... but I promise, you won't get the same results twice.  Try different color combinations and if you have the Yellows 6-pack of Spectrum Noir Markers, try blending those... they are designed to work perfectly together.
