Lizzie Anne Sneak Peeks - Day #2

Here we are on Day #2 of the Lizzie Anne Sneak Peeks.  You can see the next 3 sets over on the LAD Blog today.

My first card uses the Timeless Textures Sixlet set along with a sentiment from the Perfect Phrases Sixlet set we showed you yesterday.   I really like this set because there are so many possibilities for it ~ use it as a border, a background, texture on a punched item or even as texture on the focal point of the project.  This is a set I will reach for over and over again.

The next new set is called Tweens and Teens Little Bits set.  I also pulled out my Treasured Trinkets Mix Club set from September 2010 for the Splat background ~ it's perfect with this set.

The last set for today is the Date to be Fabulous Sixlet set.
Head on over to the Lizzie Anne Blog for a peek at all the sets and don't forget to check out the other designers blogs to see what they came up with.

Lizzie Anne Sneak Peeks

New stamps ~ woohooo!  I love when my new Lizzie Anne packages arrives in the mail with new stamps.  This past week, once all my CHA projects were finished, I sat down for two whole days and just created with my new stamps!   Ahhhh...that was fun!

Today on the Lizzie Anne Blog, they are showing three new sets ~ Bonjour (Little Bits Set); Wonderful World, and Perfect Phrases (Sixlet Sets) .  Tomorrow there will be three more sets to show you and on Monday all of them will go on sale along with the February singles.

My first card uses the new set Bonjour ~ I just love the images in this set and they usually aren't my style.  However, they are so easy to work with.  I couldn't resist using another of my message bottles from Making Memories along with some of their yummy paper called Je t'Adore.   Isn't it just perfect with this stamp set.  I used some of the word images in the set as the background on the kraft paper ~ I love how it turned out.

My next card uses the same line of paper by Making Memories (Je t'Adore) but this time I used the Sixlet set called Perfect Phrases.  This set is really perfectly named too ~ it's a MUST HAVE!  I've already reached for it several time for the cards I made this week.  I love it!

Make sure you hop around on all the design team blogs and see what great creations they came up with for these two sets and Wonderful World.  I have something to share for that set too, but I'm going to wait and show it to you next week.  You can see a list of the designers on the Lizzie Anne Blog.

A Splash of Purple...

HELLO OUT THERE!!!!  IS ANYONE OUT THERE???????  You peeps have been very quiet of late.

Anyway ... today I have a Play Date Cafe Challenge card to show you today.  The color challenge this week was to use a Splash of Purple (or any shade of purple).   Unfortunately, after I made the card, I went back to the website and realized it was supposed to include black and white too.  Oh well ~ I like the card this way.  Maybe I'll make a different one next week for the challenge.

Supplies from i{heart}papers:
Stamps ~ Unity (Moments in Bloom)
Ink ~ Palette (Violete, Landscape, Burnt Umber)

Copic Marker ~ BV08 (used to color white ribbon)

Flourishing Valentine

I really should move on from making Valentines ~ BUT for some reason, I just can't stop.  So here is another crazy, whimsical Valentine.

This card is for the CAS Challenge this week (CAS103) which was to use a Flourish on your card.  I saw this great pattern paper that already has the flourishes on it ~ so I really wanted to use it.  I also used a few Lizzie Anne stamp sets (Fancy Flourishes & Everyday Sayings) along with the embellishments from Making Memories and the Bingo card from Jenni Bowlin.  When it was all said and done, I'm not so sure it fits into the Clean & Simple category ~ but I like it anyway.

Shabby {but not} Valentine

I was trying to come up with a name for this card.  Is it shabby?  I don't know ~ you tell me.  You know my style by now.  I'm not a vintage or shabby girl ~ but every now and then I give it a go and put my own twist on it.

For my card today, I used the Lizzie Anne Designs 2011 Winter Mix called Lucky in Love.    The papers, ticket stub and little glass bottle are all from a new Making Memories line called Je t'Adore ~ so so pretty!  Did you see the little bottle with the message inside?  It's a secret message for my sweetie on Valentine's Day ~ so I'm not telling.

Lizzie Anne Weekly Sketch

It's my turn to host this week's sketch at Lizzie Anne Designs over on the LAD Blog.  It's another day that is all about LOVE!  So here is the sketch for this week ...

And here is my card.  I used the polka-dot background stamp from the Sweet & Spooky Mix Club set (October '10) and the two heart images and sentiment from the From the Heart Mix Club set (January '10).

For the larger blue heart, I used the polka-dot background to KISS the solid heart & make it have polka-dots.  You just ink up the heart stamp & then press the polka-dot stamp onto inked image. Then you stamp it onto your paper ~ easy peasy!

If you'd like to play along on the challenge this week, make sure you post your card on the LAD Facebook page.

OCL Challenge #49

It's Friday ~ that means it's OCL Challenge Day!

So it's clean & simple (CAS) along with some hearts ~ EASY PEASY!!!!  In fact, here are some cards I made for a class I taught last Monday night.  I'm loving these super simple cards.

My first card uses the very popular Sending Love set with a little Rockstar Red Sparkly Fluff on the postage stamp.

My next card uses images from the Hearts & Hugs set.

And on my last card, I used Notes of Love along with the heart from Hearts & Hugs.  I put punched circles of the same color on the card base for an easy way to add some texture.

Don't forget to add your link on the OCL Blog for your chance to win a great prize!

Supplies from i{heart}papers:
Stamps ~ Our Craft Lounge (Hearts & Hugs, Sending Love, Notes of Love)

WOW - Best of the Web!

Well, well, well!  I have to say, I was completely humbled and shocked last week when I was asked if I would like to have my blog featured on the Be@Home website as a "Best on the Web" blog!    There are several blogs featured each week and yesterday, mine was one of them.  Just scroll down and you'll see a photo of my sweet fortune cookies!  Pretty cool huh?!?

I've been so crazy busy making CHA samples so I don't have a project to share with you today ~ so sorry.  But... if you need a reason to smile, how about this...

I was going through some old photos and found these adorable shots of Jazz when she was a puppy.  This sweet adorable puppy has grown into the biggest furry {HUG} that you could ever meet.

Who can resist a picture of a Golden Retriever puppy?

Have a HAPPY day!

IHP's Sweet DT Challenge

It's a SWEET, WONDERFUL, FABULOUS day for a challenge!   Today's i{heart}papers design team challenge is a creative candy presentation ~ here's a photo we could use as an inspiration piece.  Doesn't that look totally YUMMY????

What really stood out to me in the inspiration photo was the trio of pretty jars on the pink table ~ so that's what I focused on.  I found these fun jars, bubble gumballs and chocolate covered sunflower seeds at Michael's and the idea took off from there.  I also used some of Kate's new M&M cello bags filled with gumballs and tied off with Cherry Red and Cotton Candy Divine Twine to finish off my challenge project.

My first jar starts with some pretty pink Herringbone ribbon & Cotton Candy Divine Twine tied around the neck.  Then I used a few stamp sets from Our Craft Lounge for the tag ~ Love Notes (script background) & Notes of Love (Sentiment).  I cut them out with my Classic Circle and Big Scallop circle dies by Nestabilities.

On my heart-shaped jar, I made stamped the same script background from Love Notes stamp set on the cardstock and then used a sentiment from the Sending Love set also by Our Craft Lounge.  This time I used the Red Herringbone Ribbon with the Cherry Red Divine Twine around the neck of the jar.  I added a simple little red flower and a Zva clear gem to the center for a little POP.

My third jar is a pretty tall thin one.  I used the Red Herringbone ribbon around the neck with both Cotton Candy and Cherry Red Divine Twine.  I used OCL's Vintage Valentine set for the tag and stamped the background with the Fancy Fringe set.  It's subtle, but adds just enough to the background of the label.  I also added a little Kiss Me heart stamped in Bella Rose Palette ink to the tag as well.  I cut the tags out with my Nestabilities ~ Classic Ovals & Big Scallop Ovals (Lg & Sm).

For all of my projects, I used Palette Burnt Umber Ink.

So now you'll want to check out the projects that the rest of the girls came up with ~ they are sure to be SWEET!

LAD DT Challenge ... New Year's Resolutions!

Post #2 for today.  Keep scrolling down for post #1 of the day.

Today is the Lizzie Anne Challenge for the Design Team & we are each sharing a project based on our New Year's Resolutions.  My resolution is to actually SEND out the cards I make!  I make hundreds & hundreds of cards each year & I'm always shocked at how horrible I am at actually getting them addressed and in the mailbox.  So to help me with this task, I made myself a Special Days Calendar that lists birthdays and anniversaries of my family and close friends.

On the front cover, I used the adorable bird cage image from the May 2010 Monthly Mix called Dream Big along with Fanciful Flourishes set as a hook for the cage.  The flower is from Le Jardin set ~ an oldie but goodie!

I used a variety of flower images to decorate the pages of the book.  These are from the Garden Inspirations set (my all time FAV flower set).  Others I used were from Le Jardin, and Hello Friend.

Don't forget to hop around and see what the other girls came up with for today's challenge ~ you can find the list over on the LAD Blog.

BTW ~ I'm so sorry I forgot to post the blog candy winners from the other day.  I updated my original post HERE.

OCL Challenge #48 and a few more ...

It's challenge day here on my blog and once again it's not only the OCL Challenge,  BUT I worked in three other challenges as well!  WOOHOOO ~ how awesome is that????

SCS Ways to Use it Challenge #305 ~ Use a Butterfly in your design
Play Date Cafe #PDCC64 ~ Use the colors Kraft, Blue & Grey
OCL Challenge #48 - Supply Week ~ use at least 2 different ribbons or trims with your OCL sets

And here is my project for these great challenges!

Fun, FAST & Fabulous Valentines

It's official!  I think I actually collect more supplies for Valentine's Day than any other holiday ~ maybe all of them put together {ok, not really ~ but it might be close}.

So here's the story with my post ...  Yesterday I'm sitting at my craft table with my big box of Valentine Doo-Dads thinking of how I wanted to use them.  I needed a blog post for today ~ everything I'm making right now is for a later deadline OR for new release stamps that won't be shown until CHA at the end of January or early February ~ so I can't show them to you just yet.   Since none of the new release images are for Valentine's Day, I decided to make some super simple Valentines.  I had about 45 minutes until it was time to pick the kids up from school so the goal was NOT to over think the cards!  Put something down, add more stuff, and MOVE ON!   Well...I think they turned out pretty CUTE!

My first card uses the super cute set from Our Craft Lounge called Sending Love.  I paired the images up with some fun supplies from EK Success (Martha Stewart - paper mat pad, buttons, and felt hearts) along with cool ribbon from Basic Grey.  Card #1 ~ DONE!

Next card is a little pocked filled with hearts ~ I used the same felt hearts and pattern paper from EK Success {Martha Stewart} along with sentiments from a Hero Arts set called Many Hearts.  Then I tied a charm on the tag with some pretty pink Divine Twine.

BINGO! is my third card ~ I simply started with the same EK Success paper pad and tied Red Divine Twine around the card a few times.  Then I added some epoxy heart embellishments from Making Memories to the twine.  I stamped a small heart  image on the Bingo card (Jenni Bowlin) using the Hero Arts Many Hearts and Moulin Rouge Palette Ink set and added a tiny epoxy heart to the center.  Another easy one.

My final card might have been the easiest.  I just added a scallop square of the same pattern paper pack and stamped a heart in Burnt Umber Palette ink on the felt heart.  I added a few more small felt hearts, a sentiment (from Many Hearts set) and added a charm with Divine Twine and a heart pin.

Happy Valentine's Cardmaking to you ~ see, it's super easy to make an adorable card.

Popping In...with a sketch!

Just thought I would POP in with my Lizzie Anne sketch for this week.  Yes, I know ~ that was totally CORNY.  I'm totally cracking myself up today!  Hey ~ give me a break ~ it's winter and I'm going a bit stir crazy!

Hope you can play along on the Sketch Challenge this week!  Don't forget to leave your link on the LAD Facebook page.

Just a super quick post today to share a fun little card I made for a requested store sample.  I used the set Flying Birthday by Our Craft Lounge along with the cute pattern paper by My Minds Eye.

Sorry my post is so short today, but I gotta FLY...

Your Fortune is .... FULL OF LOVE!

Just gonna say it right off the bat... I LOVE THIS PROJECT!!!!  This project was so easy and such a blast to make too!  The inspiration for my little take out box was, of course, the fortune cookie stamp in the 2011 Winter Mix ~ Lucky in Love set by Lizzie Anne Designs.   The the fabric fortune cookies are such FUN and oh SEW easy!!!!  It seriously took me longer to thread my sewing machine than it took me to make them.  But more on those in a bit.

I colored the cookie with my Copic Markers (E30, E31, E33, R83, R29) and then added some Rockstar Red Sparkly fluff to the heart on the tag.  I used my Big Scallop Nestabilities to cut out the red felt for the tag & attached it to the Chinese take out box with red twine.  For the little fortunes, I simply stamped sentiments from Lucky in Love and last year's Valentine mix, From the Heart on kraft paper and cut them out.

Now for those fun little fabric fortune cookies ~ they couldn't be easier!  I adapted my directions from THIS website.

Supplies Needed for one fabric fortune cookie:
1 - 5" square of red stiff felt (I used the stiffer felt because that's what I had on hand ~ regular felt would work as well)
1 - 5" Valentine fabric
4 1/2" scallop circle die cut (Sizzix) or you can trim the edge with decorative scissors
Sewing machine & coordinating thread

Step 1: Using the scallop circle die cut, cut out 1 felt circle and 1 fabric circle for each cookie.  I cut both piece at the same time & it worked well.

Step 2: Line up the two pieces with the fabric right side up and sew around the edge with a coordinating thread color.  Make sure you reinforce the beginning and end.

Step 3:  Fold the circle in half , with the felt side up.  Stitch about an inch in the middle ~ do not stitch all the way to either edge & make sure you backstitch several times so it is secure.

Step 4: Fold each edge of the cookie out from the middle seam.

Step 5: Tuck a little fortune inside from your stamped images and VOILA ~ You have your 5-minute fabric fortune cookies!  Aren't they PERFECT?!?!?!?

I must have a thing for fortune cookies because I made a project with them a few years ago too for Valentines day ~ here's a photo I took of my pretty little chocolate covered cookies & HERE is the link to the whole blog post.

I'd love to hear about your favorite Valentine projects too, so either leave a comment or, if you have a link leave that too so I can check them out!
