Our Sweet Kayla Nichole...
Our hearts are heavy in the Wietstock household today. Yesterday, our 14 1/2 year old Golden Retriever died. She was a wonderful dog that had a long and pampered life. She was our kid trainer and then as she aged, our parent trainer. She knew our kids from the day they were born and was always so gentle with them. Our younger Golden, Jazz, adored her and is a bit lost right now, but I know she will adjust to being the only dog (for the time being). It was her time, but that never really makes it easier when it happens. I know we will all move on because this is part of having a pet and we will always have at least one. Kayla was part of our family and she really touched our hearts. Anyway, I just wanted to share this sweet picture of our Kayla that I took last winter. I'm sure you will see it again on a scrapbook page.
Your touching tribute to Kayla touched my heart. As an animal lover I know your heartbreak!

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about Kayla. She certainly had a beautiful and kind face. That picture is precious.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel... yesterday my pooh bear passed away as well...
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. Nothing touches my heart like seeing an oldie goldie. I just LOVE them so much!!! You'll be in my thoughts.
ReplyDeletehere's a poem I love-
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Kendra - so sorry!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your loss...what a sweet puppy dog.
ReplyDeleteOh Kendra, I'm so sorry! It's so hard to lose furry family members. Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYour dog is beautiful. I am so sorry for your loss. I know the feeling all too well. I am sure you are feeling like something is missing around your home. You expect to look over and see her lying there looking up at you. My dogs are like my children loved much and spoiled rotten. They drive me crazy at times and bring me comfort and joy at others. I hope that your family and you can begin to adjust to your loss. I am so sorry.
ReplyDeleteAwww,I'm so sorry about your poor Kayla; That picture is so very sweet.
ReplyDeleteHi Kendra,
ReplyDeleteI usually just stalk to see the beautiful things you are doing with Hanna Stamps! (Amber, the H.S. artist is my daughter) This post just tugged on my heart strings though. Our Golden who was also 14 1/2 passed away about this time two years ago. It is about the biggest heartbreak I've ever gone through and I still miss him incredibly. I don't cry about it too much now, and instead I smile a lot when I think about him and I get little movie clips in my head of distant memories. I just really have a feeling he'll be the one to meet me at the Pearly Gates and show me around!
My prayers to you and your family and all who loved her.
My heart goes out to you and your family. Pets are not just pets..they are members of our families and become pieces of our hearts forever.
