Vintage Floral Release Day with a Tutorial!

Yesterday, the beautiful new Vintage Floral collection from Crafter's Companion was released. I used one of the rubber stamp sets in the collection called Vintage Floral Phrases along with one of the floral digi-stamp on the Papercrafting CD-ROM in the collection to make my card.  I also shared a tutorial for this card on the Crafter's Companion Blog yesterday.

I used a combination of Spectrum Noir Markers and Blendable Colored Pencils for my images.  Leaves - CG1, CG2, CG3, 044, 045, 046, 047; Flowers - OR1, 027, 024, 022, 020, 096, 017.  The finished unblended flower is below.

And here is the same flower with Spectrum Noir Blending Solution and paper stumps.  You can really see the difference between the before and after blending.

Here they are on the card and then I used the OR3 Spectrum Noir marker to color the gems and ribbon to match the card.

Check out the full tutorial over on the Crafter's Companion Blog.

Gina K Announcement!

Hi Friends!  I have a fun announcement to make today.  Gina K Designs has started to carry the fabulous Spectrum Noir Markers and Blendable Colored Pencils.  Isn't that exciting?!?!  Well, there is one other piece of news to share that goes along with that.... Gina has invited me to be part of her team and would like me to provide a few tutorials each month on Stamp TV showing everyone how to use these wonderful markers & blendable pencils along with her gorgeous stamps!  Pretty SWEET deal, wouldn't you say?

So let's get the ball rolling with the lovely new Stamp TV Kit called Here Comes the Sun.

So let's get started with a step-by-step on how I colored my flowers!

1) First I stamped the large line-drawn flower with black ink.

2) Next I selected several shades of yellow/gold and peach tones to match the pattern paper I wanted to use.  I decided on GB1, GB3 and CR1 for my flower.

Note: Each marker has a bullet tip and a chisel tip and the color numbers are listed on the end of each cap.  Also, you can replace the chisel tips with brush nibs on this generation of markers.

3) Next I took the GB1 marker and colored the entire flower, except for the center dots.
** Note: GB = Gold/Brown & 1 is the lightest shade in that color family, 3 is a bit darker.

4) Once the flower was covered with GB1, I used GB3 and added just a bit of gold to the tips of each flower petal.

** Note: Work in small sections so the ink stays wet and will blend better.

5) Then I added GB1 again to blend the darker tips of the flower petals.

6) I added a touch of CR1 (Coral/Red), to the middle of each petal and then went over the entire petal again with GB1 to blend everything together.

** Continue working in small sections repeating the steps above.

7) Next, I added CR1, CR7, and CR11 to the dots in the middle of the flower.

8) Now it's time to add some highlights with the Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils.  I added a dark gold pencil (020) to the bottom of each petal (closest to the center) and then added the coral red pencil (024) to the outside edge of each petal.  I used a light touch when adding the coral red so it wouldn't be too dark.

9) Next I stamped the leaves from the stamp set in light green ink and added highlights with 3 different shades of green pencils (056, 057, 058).

10) I knew I wanted to use this beautiful pattern paper; however, once I added my white panel on top, it was a bit more white than I wanted.  Therefore, I decided to change the background color to match the flower I colored with the chisel tip of my GB1 marker.

I love the contrast from the background to the white lattice embossing.

11) I added my flower and leaves and then some clear gems that I colored with my OR3 Spectrum Noir marker (Orange/Red).

Here's a close up of the flower so you can see the different colors I added.

I hope you enjoyed my first tutorial for Gina K Designs.  I'll have another one in the coming weeks.

TE Stamp of the Month ~ Neon Butterflies...

Hi Friends!  I hope you had a nice extended weekend and you're ready to hit the ground running today.  Well with May almost over, that means pretty soon the Taylored Expression Key Ingredients Kit Stamp of the Month (Bloom & Grow) along with the coordinating die set (Hello Blooms) will all be gone {see the links below}.

I love the butterfly from the stamp set and the matching die.  I decided to use some of the beautiful Radiant Neon Inks (in Electric Yellow, Orange, and Coral) and inked up the solid butterfly.  Then I trimmed them out with the die and added some pretty resin flowers from Maya Road ~ which are also part of the May Key Ingredients Kit.

Thanks for flying by today!

Simply FABULOUS!

Rise and Shine Peeps!  I've got a pretty card to share today using some fun stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions ~ and I must say... I really like it!

I used one of the supporting images from a new set called Boscoe (which comes with two coordinating dies).  The set has an adorable puppy dog in it (hence the name of the set) and this cute heart flower image.    I trimmed the stamped image with the coordinating die and then colored it to match this super sweet Summer Bliss pattern paper from Echo Park.  I used my Spectrum Noir Markers to color the image (BT2, BT3, BT4, CR8, CR10, CR11, DR1, CG3, CG4, CT4, BP1, BP2).

As a final step, I added the sentiment from the From Me to You stamp set and added some Doodlebug Enamel Dots.  Easy Peasy!

TE Die Focus: Reach for the Stars!

Today I am highlighting a die from Taylored Expressions called Reach for the Stars Border.  The die is a fabulous border that includes various sizes of connected stars and measures about 6" in length.  In the photo below, I used two die cut borders side by side.   Scroll down for all of the product links that I used on my card.

For my card today, I started with a Choice Kraft card base and stamped the star border image from the Rocket's Red Glare stamp set & Memento Toffee Crunch ink.  I also stamped the new sentiment called Patriotic Prose - Proud on Kraft in various Memento ink colors (Tuxedo Black, Rhubarb Stalk, Peanut Brittle).  Then after I trimmed it with an oval die cut, I matted it on a black mat cut form the Labels Stacklet 2 layer.

For the pattern paper, I used the Simple Stories Say Cheese 6x6 paper pad for the stripe background, the red strip and the die cut stars.

I gave this card to my sweet daughter who finished up her 3rd and final AP test last week.  So very proud of her huge efforts & great work ethic this year having all AP & Honors classes, 4.0+ GPA all year long and Top 10 in her class!  Not to mention, she is an amazing & beautiful young lady!
