Marshmallow Wishes

Just a quick hello today to share a mushy-gushy sweet marshmallow card with you.  I used a new image from the Lizzie Anne December Monthly Mix called Warm Wishes.  I also added some images from the Great Outdoors set for the background & the Great Outdoors Digital Paper Pack for the pattern paper.  They all work great together.

For the cute little marshmallow, I stamped him in brown ink and then used a Q-tip & white pigment ink to color him in.  Then I added Coffee Bean Brown Sparkly Fluff on the scarf.

Have a great Tuesday!

Cyber Monday & OCL...

Good Cyber Monday morning!  I wanted to let you know that i{heart}papers is having a HUGE sale on all of the OCL sets she has in stock ~ we're talkin' DEEP DISCOUNTS GIRLS ~ 40% off all OCL set!  In fact, Kate has all three of these sets in stock right now ~ Trim the Tree, White Christmas & Vintage Swirls

Need a simple Christmas card idea ~ well this one is it!
  1. First I cut out white cardstock using my Nestabilities Labels 8 die.
  2. I stamped the ornaments in two colors of Palette Ink (Seascape & Prussian Blue).
  3. I drew black lines with a Copic Multiliner pen.
  4. Then I added some silver brads at the top of the ornaments.
  5. For a little bling, I added a dot of Frosted Lace Stickles to the top of the brad.
  6. Next, I added a sentiment from White Christmas at the bottom in the darker ink and a snowflake from the same set in the lighter ink, then added more Frosted Lace Stickles to the center of the snowflake.
  7. For the card base, I stamped a background using the Vintage Swirls set to match the pattern on the ornaments ~ PERFECT!  Don't forget to stamp backgrounds girls ~ it really makes your card!
  8. I added a touch of ribbon to the main stamped image & then attached it to the cardbase with Zva foam Dimensionals.
Simple as that ~ 8 easy peasy steps!

Something Sweet {with Spooky}...

Hey There Peeps ~  Hope your week is going well!

The Thankful For YOU promotion is still going on today over at the OCL Blog & the set for the day is called Spooky Borders.  Now I know Halloween is over, but I'm sure you have some spooky pictures from Halloween that you haven't put on pages yet.  OR... what about changing it up all together and making something for everyday or Christmas.  SAY WHAT????   Yes, that's right, do something out of the box ~ you've got to get more mileage out of those seasonal stamps!  So here's what I came up with!

On my first card, I used the super cute lolly pop border in the Spooky Borders set along with the Sweet Holiday set to make a super fun and very sparkly Christmas card.  I stamped the little houses and snow with my Palette (Noir) ink pad, colored them with Copics (R81, 83, 85, 29, C1) and added accents with my clear Spica glitter pen.  Once that was done, I cut the image out with my Labels 17 Nestabilities die cut and then added some Sugar Sparkly Fluff to the snow on the roof and ground.

Here's a closer peek at the lolly pop border.  First I stamped the border on the candy cane patterned paper from the Everybody Loves Christmas line by Echo Park.  I even drew the swirls on the lolly pops so they would match the ones by the houses with my black Copic multiliner pen.  Then I colored them with a red Copic Marker (R29) and added some Sugar Craft Sparkles Glitter from Our Craft Lounge.  VOLIA!

My second card could be for Valentine's Day or just a little love note ... just because.  Once again I used the lolly pop border (this time I didn't add the swirls inside) and the hard candy border from the same set as well as the flower/heart border from Sweet on You set.  I lined up all three borders on my clear block and stamped rows of them in white pigment ink.  Then I embossed the images with white embossing powder and heat set them.  After that, I colored the images in with a pale pink Copic marker (R81) so they would pop off the page just a bit.  The sentiment (also from the Sweet on You set), was stamped in pink pigment ink and then embossed with pink embossing powder.  I colored in the hearts with a dark pink Copic marker (R85) and then added some Cotton Candy Sparkly Fluff.

ETA: On of my readers asked about coloring with the Copic markers and using embossing powder.  You should avoid coloring over the embossed lines while using the markers.  Some of the embossed coating will get on the brush tips and damage the tips.  I use the very tip to color them in & it works well.  I'm sure I touch a line on occasion, but not too much.

See how easy that is to use seasonal stamps on other types of cards ~ just think outside the box!  Now don't forget to go leave a comment on both the OCL Blog and the OCL Facebook page for your chances to win the Spooky Borders set!

LAD Design Team Challenge

It's been a busy week on my blog with new releases and DT challenges.  If you are looking for my Blog Candy, scroll down after you see today's project.  You can still go ahead and leave a comment today, everything will count ~ just cause I love my peeps soooooo much!

So today I'm back with yet another challenge.  This time it's for the Lizzie Anne Design Team.  So here is the inspiration piece and the challenge was to create a wreath or banner using stamped Lizzie Anne's Christmas images ~

OMW!  Can you say MAJOR challenge????  Yes indeed ~ I struggled with this one for an entire day.  I think this wreath that I finally ended up with is at least 5 times smaller than what I started with and probably the 20th revision.  Lots of stuff went into the trash that day!

I took some Maya Roads chipboard buttons out of my stash and colored them with my R29 Copic Marker.  Even though the marker is a bright red, when I colored on the gray chipboard, it turned out much darker.  Then I took images from five different Lizzie Anne Christmas sets & singles and stamped them on the buttons with white pigment ink.  The sets/singles I used were: Oh Christmas Tree, Love & Joy Labels, the Snowflake single, the Starburst single and the polka-dot background from the October Monthly Mix Sweet & Spooky.

I can't wait to see what the rest of the girls came up with for this challenge!  You can find the list of players over on the Lizzie Anne Blog this morning.

IHP Challenge: Lights All Aglow

It's that time again ~ the i{heart}papers monthly design team challenge.  This month the theme is Lights All Aglow & I can't wait to see what everyone on the team came up with.  I went shopping for a little inspiration and found these pretty tea light candle holders at Michael's and since I was working with paper, I decided to purchase some flame-less tea light candles as well.  I'm not much of a candle person because I'm terrible about remembering I have them lit ~ therefore, the flame-less candles are perfect for me!

I used one of the pretty patterns in the paper stack from Basic Grey's Jovial Christmas line.  I used it on the snowflakes (from my Cricut) and on the coaster mats for the candles.  For the coaster mats, I used my Eyelet & Classic Circle Nestabilities.  And then for the finishing touches I added the beautiful Pom Pom Trim on each candle holder from Maya Roads.  I just attached it to the glass globes with the i{stick}papers redline tape.  And the final little detail was to add a Zva Creations pearl accent on the center of each snowflake.  All in all, it was a pretty fast project, but I think the result turned out really pretty!

Now make sure you go see what all the other girls created for this fun challenge!

Monthly Mix Blog Hop

Welcome to the Monthly Mix Blog Hop today!  I couldn't wait to show you this card because I just love the images from the new December Monthly Mix called Warm Wishes

I used the dress form, the sentiment and the trim which I stamped in VersaMark ink on the orange cardstock up at the top.  These images are just perfect paired up with the gorgeous paper from Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl.  I stamped the dress form onto the pattern paper twice.  I cut one out and popped it up on top of the other so it wouldn't get lost on the card ~ I love how it came out.

You'll want to check out the post on the Lizzie Anne Blog for some fun facts about this set.

It's now time for Mix blog hop.

The next card uses the Penguin Fun set along with Snowy Sayings ~ we added Sugar Sparkly Fluff to the hat and ear muffs to make them extra warm.

My third card uses the gorgeous White Christmas set & we added lots of Crafty Sparkles in Sugar to really make the tree shine!

And the final card uses the great set Be Jolly ~ I just LOVE this snowman!  We added lots of Sugar Sparkly Fluff for more snowy fun!

What time is it Sunday?

So were you early today or right on time?  Yup ~ we changed our clocks last night.  Guess what?  I've determined if you have a bad night sleep, it really doesn't matter if you get an extra hour.  I must have been too hyped up from the Michigan vs. Illinois shoot out to sleep last night.

Oh well, it's birthday time on the blog today using the Vintage Birthday set from Lizzie Anne Designs.  I also used the matching Digital Paper pack ~ perfect huh?

Enjoy your Sunday ~ football is on the agenda today!

LAD Weekly Sketch!

Happy Tuesday Peeps ~ it's Election Day so don't forget to vote!  OMW ~ I have so much to do today so I'm gonna make this a short and sweet post.

My project today uses the weekly sketch from Lizzie Anne Designs by Joslyn.  I have to admit, this sketch stumped me for a day or so, but then once I got going, it came together really fast.  I used the new single called Starburst along with the School Days set & they worked really well together.  This new Starburst single will be a background I pick up over and over again!

Another weekend getaway

I thought I'd share some photos today of a few things we did this past weekend. The kids had Thursday and Friday off, so we decided to load up the RV and take one last trip of the season.   We ended up at Maumee Bay State Park near Toledo, Ohio.  It is off the shores of Lake Erie & they have gorgeous nature trails and wonderful paved bike paths.

I took the dogs for a walk while Tim went for a bike ride with the kids.  Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, but I did snap this picture of a deer we encountered.  Not sure you can see it from this picture or not.  I sure wish I had had my real camera ~ that zoom could spot a ladybug on top of the Statue of Liberty (well maybe not, but it would have been a great picture).

They have miles and miles of wonderful paved bike paths.

This was the view from our campsite.

Jazz and Pico enjoyed camping there as well ~ we were one of about 10 sites filled in the entire 200+ site campground.

A few close up shots.

A bike ride to the beach where we found handfuls of unexpected treasures.

We can't wait to go back when the weather is warmer ~ BUT, it was nice to have the park all to ourselves.

After our time spent at the State Park, we headed east to Sandusky, Ohio and spent a few hours at the Merry-Go-Round Museum in the historic section of downtown.

After our time at the museum, we headed on over to Cedar Point for the evening and then stayed at their campground for that night.  We have season passes for the park & have been there several times this summer, so four or five hours in the park was plenty of time for us this trip.  Thankfully, the crowds were small so we got lots of rides done in a short amount of time!

We headed home to celebrate Halloween with Trick-or-Treating.  Megan wore an old pumpkin costume I had and Matt was a penguin.  He wanted to buy a $30 costume, but I refused.  I spent about $5 on felt and elastic and made it myself!

And finally, a few pictures of our view outside our house.  The first picture is from our front yard & the second is outside in our backyard.

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse at our weekend fun...
